    Owner of a new F-50

    The pop is because Mesa uses relays for channel switching. They have some circuitry in there to mute the pop, but its not always 100% effective. On my F-30, its not bad enough to really bother me. Congrats! D7

    Interesting. I have found that boost pedals don't work as well on high-gain amps in general, so maybe thats it. In any case, I think your idea of using the solo feature is a good one. D7

    Are you running fairly high gain levels on channels 1 and 2? If so, I think what is happening is that you've run out of headroom so your compression and boost pedals are simply adding more overdrive, but no increase in volume. Bypassing the loop takes it completely out of the signal path...

    Express 5:50: more suitable for pop??

    Personally, I wouldn't let that stop you. I have an F-30 and IMO the silent recording feature on the F-series is okay for late night headphone practice, but I'd never commit anything to tape with it -- it just doesn't sound very good. D7
