How many of you boost your Mark series amps for leads?

The Mark IV has plenty of gain on the lead channel, but then my rhythm sound looses some tight chunk, so for live siutations I set my rhythm the way I like and have been playing around with a ds-1 for a swedish **** hair more of drive to bring it to where I like. I would prefer not have to do...

Mark IV - G Major switching

Can't get the G-Major to switch channels on my Mark IV. Can someone give me some raw info on how its to be done? Do I need a y-cable? What should my Mark IV switches be set at on the back?? Thanks in advance.

    Mark IV lead channel...how EVIL?

I've had a few requests for my settings, so here are my rhythm settings for my Mark IV LD channel. I just want everyone to be aware that when it comes to tracking, mic'ing, mic placement, and mic preamp, the settings will definitely change a bit. What worked for me was to put 2 mics on a...

    Mark IV lead channel...how EVIL?

Listen to my bands xmas song "Medley" on myspace (the first song). I did all the rhythms with the Mark IV LD channel. I like my rhythms to be tight and chunky and there are a few spots throughout the song where you'll hear that, especially the triplet gallops in the Jingle Bells section, and...

FS or Trade: Mark IV combo -- need head

If I don't get anywhere with this, I may wind up doing that. My combo is a widebody, and I was particulary interested in a short head. Thanks.

FS or Trade: Mark IV combo -- need head

I've got a mint Mark IV combo with the Celestion MC-90 speaker, all Mesa tubes, removable casters, and a flight case for sale or trade. I'm looking for a Mark IV short or medium head or even a rackmount. End result, I need to have a Mark IV head/rackmount for shows and don't plan on...

Mesa Rectifier 4x12 Speaker Question (8 or 16ohm speakers??)

I have a 4x12 Rectifier Cabinet and want to know if there are sonic differences if I wire four 16 ohm speakers all in parallel to give me 4 ohms, OR, four 8 ohm speakers (2 in series and then 2 parallel) to give me 8 ohms. Is there advantages or disadvantages?? Sound differences?? I'm running...

    Little boogie story!

Are you cranking the amp and standing directly in front of the cab? That's precisely how you get feedback.

Mark IV - Live situation problem...

Yeah, that works fine for only adjusting levels, which I do currently do, but the clean boost in front of the amp actually adds more saturation, and that's what I'm trying to figure out to do by only hitting 1 switch, and getting delay/vol adjustment from the g-major.

Mark IV - Live situation problem...

Yeah, that could be done, but I also like to use the Gmajor a tad of delay, so I'd have to hit 2 switches (turn boost on, and switch to lead preset on Gmajor. And like you mentioned, those clean boosts do color the sound a bit, and I love the Mark IV as is. Thanks...any other ideas?

most of you will call me stupid but...

My 2x12 Mesa Recto Closed back is better than my stock 4x12 Marshall 1960A. This is from my own testing. I would suggest either the 2x12 or 4x12 Recto cabs. They are killer.

what is the matching cab of the IIC+ and the mark IV?

I go for a heavy bottom ended tight crunch, and I've tried the Mark IV with a Mesa 2x12 Recto, and a Marshall 4x12 1960A. For my likings, the Mesa sounds better on its own because the Marshall was very bright and lacked some bottom. But if I combine them both, I come up with a nice blend.

Mark IV - Live situation problem...

Hey all, I use the LD channel with Graphic EQ ON for rhythm and lead. The only thing that's different between my rhythm and lead sound is I increase the lead gain and drive settings for the solos. My dilemma, how can I obtain this for live situations without having to buy another Mark IV...

    Mark IV

Go for the Mark IV. I've had a triaxis/simul 2:90 combo and I sold it. I also had a Triple Rec, and didn't like it so returned that. I have a Mark IV and I am EXTREMELY happy with it.

Genz Benz El Diablo 60-TS vs Boogie MKIV

I owned an El Diablo 100 watt head for about 3 weeks. Unless there was something seriously wrong with it, I thought it sounded bad. I play heavier metal sounding tones, and in my opinion, the Mark IV is best I've ever heard in obtaining a sound that I hear in my head. I am extremely happy...

    difference in mk iv speakers

I go for a VERY tight and chunky defined rhythm sound mixed between old Anthrax, Lamb of God, old Exodus, Metallica, Iced Earth..etc. I understand that the widebody is geared to be voiced for more of a vintage or open loose kinda sound, but in my opinion, if I didn't have a 2x12 recto cab to...

Mark IV Widebody combo -- shell?

Mesa told me $298 + shipping and 7-10 weeks depending where the cycle is, it could be sooner. I would hope it doesn't take 5 months like it took mangley. :? At first I thought I should've just picked up a head, but in my particular situation, it works quite nice after its converted -- I'll...

Mark IV Widebody combo -- shell?

I just got a call from Mesa and they said I can order an empty shell with the reverb and fan in it. They said the lead time is around 7-10 weeks. At least I know the option is available.

Mark IV Widebody combo -- shell?

Hey all, I just got my my Mark IV combo widebody, and LOVE it running through my 2x12 recto cab (for what its worth, the Celestion 90 in it is **** good too). But eventually I'll need to gig with it, so I'm thinking ahead for now. Is there ANY way to convert a widebody combo into a head...
