    The Mark IV thread....!!

Okay, I swapped the V1 shielded tube-thing, and things work better. But I don't really know what a perfect Mark IV should sound like, so I'm still a bit sceptical. The tweed power-thing also worked out pretty much, but I loose a lot of gain on the lead channel. Still feel that the amp long for...

    The Mark IV thread....!!

well yeah, but the bass tightens it ut a lot more than people usually think. my band: www.myspace.com/hamuemon. No songs at the moment, but it will be one within 24 hours. Just uploaded.. Recorded way too long ago, so we really suck playing. But the mix is quite good, I think.

    The Mark IV thread....!!

haha! well, in your music style the bass pretty much just accent what the guitar is doing. I'm more into that genesis-stuff where the bass kinda plays around the main theme. But I'm a metal guy as well. Dream Theater, Opeth and Spiral Architect are things I listen to a lot. John Petrucci's tone...

    The Mark IV thread....!!

1/3 of the gain on my old marshall is the same as 8 gain and 10 drive on the lead channel on the mesa.. really hope that's wrong. But now I got to wait for new tubes, if I don't bring it with me to school and have one of the teachers there to look at it. music line on high school ftw. listened...

    The Mark IV thread....!!

the lead channel sounds like channel 2, just a bit tighter. When I pull on the tweed power, it has a drastic volume drop. The overall tone is just bad too.

    The Mark IV thread....!!

yeay, the mark series is one of the most selling boogies ever. I guess it's just to swap the power tubes.. if not, I'll check the preamp tubes, and if nothing helps, I will send it back to mesa

    The Mark IV thread....!!

yeah, I really like the mark IV tones I hear on albums, but it's just that my mark was broken when I got it, so I've never had a real mark tone out of my own amp, which is quite disappointing...

    The Mark IV thread....!!

it's actually a risk to use other tube brands than mesa, because it isn't possible to change bias in Mesas, so if the tube uses another voltage than the amp, the sound will be bad. So all mesa tested tubes do work. But yeah, it really suck to have an expensive amp and know that it isn't...

    The Mark IV thread....!!

just floating around? Mine was at least taped against the wall. But I didn't like that the power tubes was broken. Never heard a working mark IV in my life. It kinda works, but the lead channel is just blues, no petrucci feel over it at all. But yeah, my preamp tubes work fine. I think.

    The Mark IV thread....!!

my mark IV was shipped from Mesa in California with the tubes in their sockets as well. And when I went to buy new power tubes in a local shop (which I hate), they had everything but mesa 6l6's. I'm going to call mesa and ask them to ship me new power tubes. The extra preamp tube that followed...

    Tube glow color

on my amp there's 3 tubes glowing blue, and one that isn't. For me it looks like no tubes in that position are glowing blue, cause none of the tubes I have had in that socket have been glowing blue.

    Standard Recto 4x12 cab???????

my standard 4x12 gets a bit woofy in the lower frequences sometimes, and it sounds kinda distant at lower volumes. I've never tried the traditional

First Gig with LoneStar Special - WOW!

Tried one of the LS's at the local store. Nice sound even at low volumes! I got some audience as well. Played it with a PRS custom 24. Really nice combination

    Yet another demo! MarkIV inside!

Did you use boost pedals on the lead channel? Think there's something wrong with my mark IV, since it sounds like channel 2 in the lead channel. And the tweed power aren't working. Gonna take it to a tech.

    The Mark IV thread....!!

I hope there's enough competence around here then. Don't really think so. But first of all I'll talk to the boogiers at my school and see if they know anything. I think almost all of the teachers got one. thanks

    The Mark IV thread....!!

The problem is that I ordered it in Germany, so I can't just drop by. I live in Norway.. But are you talking about the power tubes or preamp tubes? I've seen that only 3 of the 4 power tubes have this blue glow that all mesa 6l6's have. And the one that's not glowing blue aren't very hot...

MarkIII Lead channel broken - UPDATE :)

my Mark IV has the same problem as nick a I think.. But my tweed power is gone as well. And the amp is only 2 days old, bought new!

    The Mark IV thread....!!

I have some problems with my Mark IV. The Lead Channel sound like it's designed for playing blues. I've copied almost every setting I've come over, but still it doesn't sound good at all! My 15w marshall transistor amp sounds better! I bought it new, and it came yesterday, so I don't think it's...
