Rivera owner commenting onLonestar & Stiletto - Andy Timmons

I ended up with a Rivera Venus 5 earlier this summer and I absolutely love the amp. Amazing versatility... but I wanted to share that I heard Andy Timmons demo the Lonestar and Stiletto recently. Besides the fact that he is amazing, those Mesa's were incredible! Little used in the way of...

Amp selection made - Thanks for the forum's help

Yes, Jessica has more curves than the Rivera. As for Carmeron... I'd open the door for her and turn down the covers, being the gentleman I am! Gotta watch those germs. 8)

Amp selection made - Thanks for the forum's help

Trust me... this was a hard decision. I told the guy at the music store that I felt like I had to chose between Jessica Simpson and Cameron Diaz. Both hot numbers just different models. Both well constructed! The Rivera has an oversized cabinet for a 1-12 and sounded a little bigger on the...

Amp selection made - Thanks for the forum's help

I started looking for a new amp several months back. Narrowed the search to Mesa and Rivera. My main amp to this point has been my Marshall Silver Jubilee. I gravitated to jazz and still do a lot of blues and some fusion. I was looking for an amp that could cover a wide range, wouldn't be too...

    Head is spinning on variety

These replies are very helpful. I do agree the only final course is to sit down and play a few amp selections for a good while. Having this input does give me sounding points and direction. Thanks again to all for their thoughts and the good narratives! Indiana

    Head is spinning on variety

Thanks for the feedback. While I've been tempted with the used market (nearly went for a Lonestar 1-12), I've decided my best comfort is with one off the show room floor. Buying sight-untested gives me the willies. The Express series is in my price point and sounds like a respectable /...

    Head is spinning on variety

Placing this post here since I've been looking at the Express series. BUT... there are so many Mesa's past and present to consider. I'm an old Marshall tube guy (and now very confused). I have just lost out on all that Mesa has offered over the years. Here's the question... what older vintage...

    Advice on amp selection

I just talked to another old buddy that had quite a run with Boogie's. For the genre I'm playing and price tag, he sang praises of the Express. Looking forward to test driving this little babe. Nice quote on the distribution of funds in the previous post. Woo hoo. Indiana

    Advice on amp selection

Great replies and thanks to all. I would like to stay in the Express price range, but willing to at least consider other lines and pricing. I had hoped to not go much over $1,500 . Ideally 25 watts would be my mark, but I could stand 50 as a max. Anymore than that and I'm not going to get the...

    Advice on amp selection

Thanks folks... That's the fun of trying. I love the vintage Marshall sound, but ready for a new path. I could have sworn the Mesa's go to 12 but I'll keep it under 11. I'm basically a Les Paul (1977 Gold Top)l guy with influences of Duane Allman, Jeff Beck and Jimi. Love a lot of the fusion...

    Advice on amp selection

Not a "death metal" guy either... although it's what ever you find to express yourself. My local music shop is willing to let me take the Express home for a weekend as well as a Rivera Venus 3. I listen to a lot on Youtube and my ears keep going back and forth. Thanks for your input. Indiana

    Advice on amp selection

Thanks for the reply. Have you any experience with other Mesa products? I don't want to make my selection overly complicated. I have a friend using a Mark V, but his group plays higher volume material. Sounds awsome but too much for my needs. Thanks again.

    Advice on amp selection

Just joined the forum. I've been a Marshall guy for the last 20 years (Silver Jubilee 2-12 combo). I now play jazz / blues / fusion and looking for a smaller, versatile amp. The Juby is in pristine condition and I'm happy keeping it at home (pretty heavy too). I've been researching Rivera's...
