FX Loop Mod, What Mesa's Take??

Well, I've been looking at effects processor options for my new 3 Channel Dual Rectifier Solo Head, and several folks on here recommend that I do the loop mod. You know, the Parallel to Serial loop mod. I've been doing research into the pros and cons of it and I started thinking. What does Mesa...

Calling Dimarzio Junkies / Ducanites need not apply

This is correct. I've seen YJM in several interviews stating that he doesn't like the sound of humbucking pickups. He prefers the "natural" sound of the single coils. It's more geared towards his classical style of playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qeplu0eeupU I guess he likes...

    Searching for a new guitar

Yup, the high end S-series is great too. I pay a lot of attention to the tremolos as well. I like the original Edge compared to the new ones. You get a lot of movement with reasonable tune stability. The first run of the Lo Pro Edge is very stable as well. My 99 Rg3120TW has the Lo Pro and it...

My new Music Man JP BFR! (pics)

Sweet finish. Very nice flamed top. Love the how the finish fades around the cutouts. I bet it plays like a dream. Congrats. :D

    Searching for a new guitar

Congrats on the stimulus check buying gear decision. I used mine on a Dual Rectifier Solo Head. Thanks Uncle Sam. The biggest issues for me when selecting a new guitar are, stability/tuning reliability, pick-ups/sound, feel, and finally finish. I see a lot of great looking guitars in stores...

New to the Boogie Family. Any Effects Advice??

Hey 6L6, you're setup sounds intriguing. I couldn't find if you had listed what type of amp you are using the GSP1101 with? I'm assuming you're using some sort of amp/channel switching device between the amp and MIDI controller, or does the GSP have this type of ability? I've read the manual and...

New to the Boogie Family. Any Advice??

That's exactly why I chose to hold out for the 3 Channel Model. I've heard the 2 Channel might sound better, but I needed the versatility. Plus when, I'm playing shows, I doubt the typical showgoer or bar patron will notice.

New to the Boogie Family. Any Effects Advice??

Thanks for the info. Yeah I've looked at the GSP1101 in depth. I really like digitech stuff and I'm familar with the interfaces as my previous amp was Johnson Millenium (basically the same brains as the Digitech 2120). The drawbacks for me were the slighty higher cost and I was worried that the...

New to the Boogie Family. Any Advice??

I have thought about this. Some folks around here have gone this route and mention that they do get some different tones. I was wondering about trying a pair of each 6L6's and EL34's. When swapping power tubes, I believe they have to be done pairs correct? Which pairs need to be changed at the...

New to the Boogie Family. Any Effects Advice??

Regarding the Axess CFX4. Their site detail lists that they sell a 3ch Rectifier cable for $50. Then it states: "The Mesa/Boogie 3ch Rectifier requires the CFX4's CUSTOM jack to be modified so that the CFX4 can control it via a single cable. As a result of this modification, the CFX4 will not be...

New to the Boogie Family. Any Effects Advice??

Small world indeed! Yes I have read about the serial loop mod, but I had some concerns. Mainly, loosing the functionality of the F/X and solo buttons. Now, I guess I would probably would leave the FX loop on all of the time, but do you then use the G-major to control amp channels and the solo...

New to the Boogie Family. Any Advice??

Thanks for the advice. I've heard the same thing regarding the bass setting. The drums and bass are going to eat it up anyway. We play mostly hard rock/metal covers. Some classic rock like Nazareth and Mountain, AC/DC, Metallica, GnR, Alice in Chains, Rage Against the Machine, STP, and some new...

Thanks for the welcome. I do enjoy cranking it up! I had around 6-7 at our last band practice. Really brought a smile to my face. That's what I was looking for.

New to the Boogie Family. Any Effects Advice??

Hi there, I'm a new member to this forum and the Mesa Boogie Family. I just purchased a 3Ch. Dual Rectifier Solo Head and I'm looking for advice as far what effects processors work best with this head. My previous amp was a Johnson Millennium 250 Head and Cab (modeling amp) which was super...

Hi there, I'm a new member to this forum and the Mesa Boogie Family. I just purchased a 3Ch. Dual Rectifier Solo Head and I'm ready to find the perfect tones. I've been reading this forum for quite some time and it did help to finally lead me to the decision to get the DR. It's still new to me...
