Thanks! Circuit board? I haven't looked inside yet. After doing some research I've come same conclusion. This is very late IIb. Serial no. 107xx. There is IIc on Ebay right now and only difference I can find is that one has "Pull" bass.

It's strange.. I've tried so many different settings last few days and currently loop is working fine. Maybe it wasn't about vol. 1, maybe it was something else. I read on the other board that effects loop problem got something to do with reverb been placed before loop instead of after effects...

I assume you are not anywhere near so it's most probably too pricey.

7 seems to be critical number. at 5 everything works fine. at 8 it is totally disaster. atleast my 70's MXR Phase doesn't take it well. just for curiosity, what happens when you turn vol 1 to 10?

I'm having problems now.. I noticed that when I increase first volume control, delay & phaser starts cracking and definitely not sounding good. And this already happens with low volume level. I guess this is the case and this is why there's effects loop mod.

I think I go with Groove Tube power tubes (rating #4 to #7 I presume), 'cause i liked them in my Fender. and for preamp, I'm gonna try this, if there's no other suggestions. V1 Tungsol V2 JJ V3 some chinese V4 ?? is this the one that pulls power tubes?

any suggestions what tubes would work best in Mark IIb combo. No EQ & no reverb. I heard these amps originally had Svetlanas (or similar).. So is it worth of getting Svetlanas or should I go easier and cheaper way with Mesa 440 STR's? JJ 6L6's are also available at my local store. and preamp...
