Does a Mesa need a hotplate? I mean ive used one on an old Marshall SL-X i used to own to get those power tubes broken up but it just seems like a waste of money and tubes to use one on a Mesa IMHO.

I know im the minority but i cant get a good tone IMHO out of recto cabs either.... i think its the v30's, they sound very shrill to me. I much prefer Marshall 1960A but i think its more the speakers (G12T 75's) that i like. hmmm wonder what G12's would sound like in A oversized recto...

Hey thanks for the compliments, I did not remove the front plate just for fear that i would wreck the wood underneath but thats awesome you got yours off with relative ease. As far as when i painted i just removed the head from the shell as to make sure nothing would catch any over spray or what...

I talked to Mesa and they said removing the Plate would absolutely tear the wood apart......... I took a high quality Flat black to mine and it does look really good, actually i was covering up a bad attempt by someone that owned it before me. I think next im going to throw on some Black Chrome...
