    Triple Recto Modifications (Voodoo)

I still don't get why'd ya mod your Triple rectifer to sound like a Voodoo amp. basicly what you're doing is spending around 2,500 to get a Voodoo amp, when you can get a real Voodoo amp for less. I mean i understand you wanting to tweak your tone, but that can be done with a good EQ (at less...

Where is there an amp repair in NYC?

In NYC, 48th street between 6th and 7th on what's called guitar row are three good music stores man. sam ash manny's and rudy's, you can also try 30th street(between 7th & 8th) guitars. if they don't do amp mods on site i'm pretty sure they can direct you to someone good who does.

    Triple Recto Modifications (Voodoo)

Well it's cool it can be undone. but by the same logic, if you've spent 1800 on an amp why would ya want a voodoo mod? i mean for 1800 you should be sure you like the way the amp sounds in the 1st place. I could possibly see getting the mod done to an amp you got for very little money. but for...

I was doing some surfing on the Grove Tubes site, when i came upon this link. http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/Rating.html According to whats on that page, Green on mesa tubes means the tubes have a rating of 5 on the groove tubes scale. Mesa scale / Groove Tubes scale...

A Little Insight into Mesa's Thinking.

This might be a stupid question. But it's one i'm curious about anyway. Now it was mentioned in the the origional post that a major part of how mesa chooses their tubes is based on reliability and tube life. which is defintely understandable in my mind. It's also mentioned that they like the...

    Lonestar Classic with El34's clip

Sorry to hear about your personal issue Dreads. I hope it's nothing too bad. Thank you for being willing to take the time to make a clip with the 6L6's. It's defintely going to help me to hear that clip. I'm going to be buying a custom LSC in a few months. And i have been trying to assess if...

    Can't stand modern Marshalls!

Hah hah hah Love that story Russ. I'm sure all of us guitarist can appreciate and have experienced the joys of amps that go to 11. And opening the sucker up...i'd have to say it's defintely something i enjoy doing when i can. But, the story points out another reason i prefer the 2205 in MOST...

    Can't stand modern Marshalls!

That's exactly what i mean about the 2205. That's where a lot of the mojo is..the power tube distortion. Otherwise we'd all be playing solid state amps that only use tubes in the pre.

    Can't stand modern Marshalls!

All this talk about JCM 800's and i didn't hear anyone mention the 2205. The 2205 in my opinion is the best Marshall has made within the last 20 years or so.

Road king vrs Lone star classic

Sounds good to me rockhound. Truth is, nowadays..the classic/hard rock tones are probably as heavy as i'd need 80-90% of the time. As i've gotten older i've come to appreciate tone much more, than over the top balls to the wall distortion. I am/was an old school thrasher though, and ya know...

Road king vrs Lone star classic

Thanks rockhound. After listening to that clip. There's No question at all..the LSC sounds sweet for lead tones. I'm sold on it in that reguard, it's beautiful sounding. I have some final questions, that would make the LSC a sure thing for me. How does the lone star sound for palm muted rhythm...

Road king vrs Lone star classic

Thanks for the thoughts guys, it's defintely apreciated. As far as gain type, i defintely would be leaning towards that mark series gain, as long as the LSC, can get dirty enough. I've been looking around the web for some sound clips of the LSC , and i can't for the life of me find any. I have...

Road king vrs Lone star classic

What's up everyone, I'm going to be in the market for a mesa boogie in a few months. As the subject of this thread indicates, I've narrowed my choices down between which two boogies i'm interested in. I've done all the reading of the literature available from mesa boogie, on the two amps in...
