Better is always a subjective term. I've played modellers that have beat the pants off of some tube amps. But in more instances I just find I prefer tubes in my signal. In some ways and in a lot of places modellers are taking over. But there is ALWAYS a place for analog be it s.s. or tube.

Having owned both a JCM 800 and a Powerball. I'd say you just couldn't. The first place I'd start is the midrange. Go high on it and the presence while keeping the treble down a little, don't go to crazy on the bass or gain. A boosted JCM 800 tone is very tight and bright.

Roll with it. It's not like you're never going to be able to find another MK IV or ACE.

Something about plugging straight into my 2204S JCM 800 just makes me smile every time. Not a suitable amp for all my styles. But it does what it's ment to do better than any medium gain amp out there IMO. Of course putting pedals in the mix, anything is possible. Sometimes simple is better.
