    MkIII Metal corners/Replacement parts/Amp hardware

Thanks for the link. Yes, they do have countersunk holes. The Ernie Ball product looks the same but has a slightly different overall size than the vintage Boogie corners.

    MkIII Metal corners/Replacement parts/Amp hardware

I'm trying to clean up and restore a MkIII Boogie combo. The metal corners are a little beat up so I'd like to replace them. Ernie Ball corners look very close and I bought a set but the dimensions aren't an exact match. Any suggestions for a source of vintage Boogie parts and amp hardware...

MkIII problems. Volume fades briefly then returns to level.

The contact cleaner on the send & return jacks of the fx loop worked for me. The problem hasn't returned since following Boogiebabies instructions so I've done nothing with the tubes. My difficulties didn't occur while channel switching though so I'm not sure if your trouble has the same...

MkIII problems. Volume fades briefly then returns to level.

The contact cleaner may have done the trick but the amp was only tested briefly. The gig on Friday night with tell the tale. If the problem rears it's ugly head again I'll start swapping tubes as you've suggested. Thanks for your help.

Soon to be Mark III owner, few questions.

I'm happy with all three channels of my MkIII but it did take some time and experimentation to get the channels balanced. The R2 master volume mod was the trick. The other trick for me is to use coil splitters and the guitar's volume knob to help achieve a great clean sound while using...

MkIII problems. Volume fades briefly then returns to level.

I plan to work on the amp tonight. Should I remove the chassis from the cabinet and spray the 1/4 jacks from the inside or is it sufficient to spray into the jack from the outside of the chassis? Also, if cleaning the jacks doesn't do the trick then I'll move on to the tubes as you've...

MkIII problems. Volume fades briefly then returns to level.

Recently I've noticed an issue with my MkIII head. While recording the volume would briefly fade. After a second or so the level crept back up to normal. The first time it happened there were no FX in the loop or in front of the amp. Last night at rehearsal I noticed the problem again. This...

Does this mod even exist for a MkIII?

Thanks very much for the info. Making the Simul-class/Class A switch footswitchable might be good enough for me. Is that an easy mod or should I send the amp back to Mike B.?

Does this mod even exist for a MkIII?

I'm interested in a mod for my MkIII that would assign Simul-class power to the rhythm channels and Class A to the lead channel. In my mind this would be similar to the EQ AUTO function which assigns the EQ to the lead channel. Does anyone know if this mod is possible and/or availble through...

MkIII Blue Stripe Lead Tone Settings/C+ Mod

I replaced the Celestion 70/80 speaker in my cabinet with an Eminence Governor. The MkIII sounds amazing with the Governor speaker. The Eminence website suggested the Governor as a direct replacement for a Mesa/Celestion 12" speaker. The Celestion 70/80 speaker I was originally using may have...

MkIII Blue Stripe Lead Tone Settings/C+ Mod

I'll certainly try new tubes first but if the amp suffered from power tube troubles wouldn't all 3 channels sound bad? I can make R1 & R2 sound great but the lead channel becomes harsh. If I make the lead channel smooth then the R1 & R2 sounds aren't as good. I'm pretty sure the amp is in...

MkIII Blue Stripe Lead Tone Settings/C+ Mod

I'll try to find a Mesa/Celestion 90 before making a final decision. Will probably call Mesa Boogie this week for an RA# to have the C+ mod done. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again, Ed

MkIII Blue Stripe Lead Tone Settings/C+ Mod

The power tubes are USA made versions. Glad to hear they're valuable. Not sure how many hours of use the tubes saw before being parked. Probably not much use based on the amps condition. I did recently clean the amp and all the pots. It's in spotless condition and works flawlessly. I'm...

MkIII Blue Stripe Lead Tone Settings/C+ Mod

My settings closely resemble the rock sample settings from the MkIII manual. Volume = 6.5 pulled Treble = 7.5 pulled Bass = 3 pulled Middle = 4 Master = 2 pulled Lead Drive = 7 Lead Master = 5 R2 Master = 6 Presence = 4 Reverb = 6 Not sure about the tubes. I'm not very knowledgeable on this...

MkIII Blue Stripe Lead Tone Settings/C+ Mod

I own a blue stripe MkIII long head and am having trouble getting the lead tone dialed in. If I set R1 for a Fender clean tone then the lead channel is a little harsh on the top end. Would the C+ mod give me a smoother lead channel or just a 'Master of Puppets' grind? I'm after a...

How can you tell it is simul-class?

You would have to remove the chassis to see the marks on the output transformer which is on the input/footswitch side of the amp. With the chassis out you could also verify that the wiring is different for the outside tube pair compared to the inside pair. I've been down the path you're on and...

How can you tell it is simul-class?

On a previous post I asked the same question and Boogiebabies gave me the scoop. The output transformer # should be 562003 or a left over 152019B. It's stamped on the housing. Other than that, you would have to look at the power tube socket wiring. If you are wondering about your blue stripe...

Confused on Mark III S/N's and stripes

My blue stripe MkIII is serial number 23818 with a born on date of 12/88. They must be close to the same age and stripe vintage with serial numbers so close. Not sure why yours is a red stripe. Maybe it was custom ordered with the red stripe circuit even though Mesa Boogie had already moved...
