    Studio preamp help

Hey folks just wanted your opinions. I have been offered a trade for my Vox night train and cab. The guy has offered me a mesa boogie studio preamp from 1989. Is this a good preamp, are the tones good, are they close value wise? I have never used rack gear before, what else would I need ie...

    stiletto vs electradyne

I love that ac/dc crunch thing about the stiletto. That is the classic rock sound I have in my head and the stiletto does it perfectly. I was curious if the ED could pull that off well. I could live on channel one crunch alone. I usually use Channel two for more modern rock or for solos that...

    stiletto vs electradyne

    stiletto vs electradyne

Just curious, have not played an electradyne. Based on what they say about it it seems to be based on british amps as well. How does it compare to the stiletto and why would mesa introduce another british based amp. or would the stiletto be marshall and eletradyne voxy???

    Favorite Mode on the Stiletto?

AMEN, crunch on 1 gain at between 12-1 o'clock and use guitar volume to clean up. Tite gain on channel 2 similar gain to you 11ish. I play classic rock and modern rock. I use tube rectifiers and 50watts on both channels.

    New Stiletto owner

Good thing you put the flame suit on. What do you mean by entry level amp??? pretty good ENTRY LEVELif I do say so mayself! Granted it emulates a marshall but in my opinion sounds much better than most of the marshall's I have played.

Stiletto Duece and Marshall 1960a slant cab???

Well guys I picked it up tonight for 225 US (250Can), speakers are all in good shape and are celestion g12t 75, cab corners, handles and other plastic accessories are in good shape including the logo. The 1960 lead logo has faded completely off the plastic. Most of the tolex is ripped off and...

Stiletto Duece and Marshall 1960a slant cab???

Thanks ttstwo, the marshall cab is pretty beat up cosmetically ie" most of the tolex is removed" but it is loaded with the original speakers which the seller advises are not damaged and sound great and the cab is structurally sound. So 250 Canadian works out to about 225 US which I think is a...

Stiletto Duece and Marshall 1960a slant cab???

Thanks for the input. I already have a roadster cab (2x12) which is the same specs as the stiletto cab and really like it. I Just got a decent price on a used 1960a and wanted a second cab for our rehearsal place. If I had the cash I would just get another Mesa, but cash is a little tight and...

recommend a boost for stiletto duece

Ditto, I just love the crunch setting. I play in a cover band that does predominently classic rock and 80's rock. I find I play the majority of our stuff on the channel one crunch channel and it just sounds so full and cuts through the mix easily. By the way thanks to everyone for the input I...

recommend a boost for stiletto duece

Thanks for the replies so far. I guess my main reason for wanting the boost is to use on channel one. Ie: set one for clean, boost for that chanel to dirty it up and then use channel 2 for heavier stuff or solo.

recommend a boost for stiletto duece

Might be getting a stiletto deuce in the near future, just wondering what boosts you guys have been using. If things work out and I get it I am considering adding a boost to tighten things up a bit and give me a bit more versatility. The one I am looking at is the BB Preamp. Any other advice...

    Convince me not to!

Thanks to all who posted so far, primal that was very informative thanks! Still thinking about it. Had a guy offer me a VHT pittbull classic 100watt combo so far but not convinced I want to go that way yet as I have never played a VHT and really like mesa. Sounds like the lead channel on the...

    Convince me not to!

So your saying the lead tone of the Mark iv is nicer than the roadster. IN what ways? sorry for all the questions but this is of particular interest to me because I love the roadster rythym but want a better lead tone. Thanks for the input! :D

    Convince me not to!

Thinking about trading my mesa roadster for a Mark IV. have never played a Mark iv but have heard great things about them. How would the two compare! I play in a cover band that does everything from classic rock to 80's metal to modern rock. Will I regret the decision? Do you think a...

Thanks, yeah we noticed that too, but hey it was nice of him to do it so I'll take whatever I can. The roadster really is a great amp and very versatile.
