As far as I know the TAD are selected tubes made in China; JJ's are made in Slovakia. I have used Chinese tubes before (but not TAD); the JJ's are smoother/less harsh in my limited experience.

There few more things that may be worth trying: * Plug a cable in the FX loop with no effects * Get signal from the FX loop send into another amp power amp * Get signal from another amp FX send into Mini's FX loop receive This may help finding which part of the amp causes the noise.

Have you tried to swap V5 to see if it make any difference?

The easiest solution is to turn the cab on its side. I have been using it this way for quite a while and it sounds much better.
