New problem with Road King I

FINALLY got the amp back! He did the diode and fan upgrade, plus the 6228 (I think) upgrade, whatever that is. Fired it up when I got home and it sounds great. We'll see how it holds up in a gig next week. He charged only labor - about $64 dollars. Not bad considering I purchased it used...

New problem with Road King I

I was going to try the rotary dial the next time it happens, but I have not been able to reproduce it at home. And I don't think I'll wait for it to happen to me again during a gig...taking it in today.

New problem with Road King I

I called Mesa support about this problem. When I first described the problem to Markus he suspected a bad tube in V2 or V3. However, I mentioned the footswitch logic problem mentioned by Barry and Flavell777 to him. He didn't seem familiar with it, but luckily he was willing go ask a techy...

New problem with Road King I

Last two gigs that I have used my Road King I, I played a set, put the amp on standby, left the stage for about 30 minutes, came back and switched the amp out of standby and SURPRISE! NO sound out of channels 3 and 4!!! I turned the amp all the way off and then back on - then channels 3 and 4...

    Problem with Road King

Thanks for the reply RB. You hit something this time! My Loop 2 Send and FS mix were set at about 9 o'clock. I moved them up to 12 o'clock and "BAM!" - much better gain/sound with lower Output setting. I've never touched these knobs since I bought it, so this has been my problem with the...

    Problem with Road King

OK, I've been playing around with the amp some more, trying to figure out whether I need to pay the money to get it looked at. I want to get the opinion of you guys out there that love the tone of your RK. Here's what I tried. I set Channel 3 to those in the Manual for Liquid Solo (including...

    Problem with Road King

Well, retubed pre and power amp with JJ's from Eurotubes and it still sounds like crap to my ears. Can't really even tell the difference. Channel 3 is especially disappointing..weak and ugly. Oh well, I guess it's time to take in to get it serviced....Arghhh! :x Maybe that's why the other...

    Problem with Road King

Just bought a used Road King in an online auction. The serial number is 633. I have no idea about the history of the amp - if mods were made, last time retubed, etc. It was a trade-in to Guitar Center, and so they don't have any of this info. I can get some decent tones out of the amp, but...
