changing tubes in a mesa...does it bring a lot?

and how much...for example a lonestar special or classic...for instance, we can consider that they are as agressive as plexis right? so if I change tubes...how far can I go in terms of agressivity?

changing tubes in a mesa...does it bring a lot?

Of course, each amp and so each mesa amp has its own voicing, its own feeling etc... but I've got here a question concerning power and preamp tubes... for example...putting a tung sol 12ax7(known for a lot of gain) in V1 and JJEL84 in a lonestar special...what will it do?

    stiletto ace VS single recto

I'm really thinking of getting a stiletto and if needed to put 6CA7 tubes in it in order to have a mix of 6L6 sound and EL34..... a stiletto with these tubes could surely be the ultimate amp: great old school clean great crunch great distortion still british but with the mesa signature and the...

Anyone own or tried the Stiletto Ace yet???

lol.....thiis why I'ved said my grade was purely subjective...lol :D I'd love the Road King..but it's really really too expensive.. by the way ...a good compromise could be the EH 6CA7 power tubes, couldnt they? they seem to be a sort of EL34 but voiced between EL34 and 6L6(even if it is a...

Anyone own or tried the Stiletto Ace yet???

I've done ....from what I know of the recto and as I've already played once on a dual recto.... so the grades are: Single Rectifier -Features: 3 : it lacks reverb, and compared to a stiletto, lacks also the choice concerning the rectification plus the modes spongy/bold. but still a complete amp...

Anyone own or tried the Stiletto Ace yet???

ok thanks for such a complete answer....I'll try to make a comparison between a single recto and a stiletto...and the two lack reverb....and in fact I love the rectifier sound especially for the metal... but..lol I also love old school style...and somme zz top stuff etc..much more british in...

Anyone own or tried the Stiletto Ace yet???

so...from what I read...and the review on musicplayers.com.the stiletto is much more versatile than a rectifier... it has better cleans, a better crunch so for old school things it's a masterpiece...three modes en each channel....and it is said in the review that it can do even nu-metal......so...

    stiletto ace VS single recto

so.....in fact the stiletto is better than the recto for everything except the recto modern high gain mode that it cannot do..... so...its has a lot more gain than a F50 for example doesn'it?(I'm talking without the contour mode...) and in order to do metal...it can do it without any pedal...I...

    stiletto ace VS single recto

thanks guys....... so you still confirm that a stiletto even naked(without any pedal) can do metal.....of course early metal but ok...... the thing is I found some stiletto clips....but I've heard the seriesII and especially the Ace were really different....in what way?more agressive?more recto-ish?

    stiletto ace VS single recto

so..I'm hesitating between getting the stiletto ace combo 1x12(head and cab will be too expensive) or a single rectifier with a 2x12...the price is nearly the same....perhaps e hundred more euros for the half stack... actually I play mainly metal such as metallica(all periods, from kill'em all...
