NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

Bandit2013, I'm sure folks are following your thread, but most dnt have a comment, as is pretty much normal on these forums. You have some excellent information here for us to benefit from.Thankyou for that. My view on the vii is forget trying to be the smallest amp head and just make it normal...

Mark III + is a firebreather

^^^^ I run my mk iii coli's rhy.ch that way too.( but no extra pedals). Its a very nice crunch, that's extremely controllable with guitar vol knob,as a good amp should be.

Mark III + is a firebreather

Mk iiis are an all around hidden gem for sure.I have iii blue stripe coli.Man,this thing will rip heads off.The blue in general often gets labeled as too bright, too much presence, high end, etc. Some tube rolling in the pre will help that out tho.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I have a iic+ & red stripe coliseum. I will say that the coli has a roar and authority that even my iic+ doesn't have. But... the iic+ has this " blanket off the amp " sound/tone and feel that is 2nd to none.

W/D/W home rig - 3 amps - what dry cab?

Reading the o.p., so you want only one amp on ( out of 3) to be your left wet/ dry middle / right wet?....well,that's certainly one way to do it,out of many ways.Whatever cab is your dry cab,you want it to be a good one, probably one that is very organic, raw, immediate feeling,punchy,tight,and...

Metallica tone : Mesa Mark into Strategy 400

^^^^ The 500 is nothing to balk at that's for sure. Its phenomenal in its own right.Simul power amps have thier benefits, but the mighty 400 and 500 are just beasts, right up there with the other king of heavy weights- the vht 2150 & 2100.I run a quad and a triaxis into a 500 regularly and it...

Metallica tone : Mesa Mark into Strategy 400

Mightve posted this before. Here's an article from mesa's own bulletin board article, vol 1,#1, jan.89'.

Metallica tone : Mesa Mark into Strategy 400

You are correct there. The 400 is not simul." close" is a general term. iow,a lot closer than a 2-50,2-90,395,etc.From my mesa product literature it says the 400 descends directly from thier m-180 & m-190 power amps, which are killer power amps.A iic+ thru those would be really nice too.

Metallica tone : Mesa Mark into Strategy 400

Without a direct interview of James and kirk, best guess is probably a bit of all of the above. Also with a power amp like the 400,back then they could add more cabs to cover more stage area. This was a big thing to do back then.It takes multiple amps to drive many cabs that are setup across or...

Speaker for the Mesa Mark V: 35??? Any thoughts???

When I was runnin the mk35 out live,I plugged into 2- 4x12 diezel cabs w/ vintage 30s and never looked back. I loved how that tiny 35 could move some air! ( cream back 65s would be a good choice too).

    EQ's?

I've used a source audio eq in the loop of my triaxis. It works perfectly as its midi and you can call up different eq curves just like the very limited DV on the unit itself but way better. No need for eq in the loops of my mkiic+,iii's, coli's or iv.Theres plenty of adequate tone shaping...

    Coliseums and Satellites

^^^^ I've ran my stuff that way too.Seems to work well.Another thing on a satellite manual: I have seen a " settings/ function" cardboard sheet that would've originally been on the top of the head or combo...as the mkiv used to come with.I have an original one from a mkiv. The one I've seen for...

    Coliseums and Satellites

I'm a stickler for all accessories and literature with my amps.40 years have gone by and I've yet to find an owners manual to my simul satellite head. I have the rackmount kit and the mesa footswitches for it,but no manual or schematics.I did try running my mkiic+ & mkiii colis slave outs into...

Got a Mark III or IIC front panel you can scan?

Sounds like a great idea, also for mkiii/ii owners that have a badly scratched up faceplate and want to restore to like new. Off topic a bit,but triaxis owners have been asking for a replacement front membrane since mesa ran out of them ,but that would be a bit more involved thing I'm thinking.

    Coliseums and Satellites

Of the huge collection of literature I have from early 80s to mid 2's, I've never seen mention of a coli satellite, only the regular combo or head, although there may have been a custom one ordered here and there. I have a simul satellite head, specifically meant to be paired with the mkiv.Its...

Famous (or known) Mark III Users.

^^^ yes,Stryper indeed went thru a ton of boogie gear over the years. Not sure if they were using mk iiis yet by soldiers, they were using Marshall's with eqs around yellow and black, which was right before soldiers, circa 85' and later the quads and 400s came in around or after to hell with the...

Who is Still Gigging Their Vintage Mark Series Amps?

Not for when I gig country bands, but when I gig 80s metal stuff or shred bands,I love running my iic+, red & blue stripe colis in stereo live.

About replacement faceplate membranes for the Triaxis

I would love to see someone take this on.it's much needed.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement front-panel membrane for a Triaxis?

That is the million dollar question. There's been some talk about this on various forums, but as of yet no clear answers. I would think that if any company can take on making the membranes, they'd have a pretty good thing going on,as there's many of us out here that need ours replaced.
