JJ E34L. Next best thing to Bias Mod

Soldano and Diezel are lifetime warranties (thus more expensive) Mesa amps cook with mesa tubes, trust me. happened to me and mightywarlock (stiletto and 2 mesa V's) enjoy

    Peavey 6505 112 combo vs. Peavey 6505 212 combo

Why does the 212 combo cost way more than the 112 combo? $600 vs. $1200 new? that's double! I figure I buy a new acoustic guitar and the 112 combo instead of a Mark V!

    Peavey 6505 112 60W 1x12" Tube Combo Guitar Amp

I basically don't practice much anymore (1-2 per wk max). So it's when they leave the house I crank with Rivera in lowVoltage/triode/mono and 212 GBenz... The S120 is incredibly flexible...

Burning smell from my Mark IV Head

My Road King series 1 recently was having the same burning smell problem with old output tubes (it's a 2004 used head, not sure how old but at least 6 months or so). I re-tubed all 13 tubes and it still made that burning smell with volume problems. I had cranked it up to 6 on preamp and master...

Mesa Mark IV vs. Mark III -- comparing channels

Well it's one of those that must sell or my cherished JCM 800 2205 in mint condition. Otherwise, I'll have to sell my soul to afford a nice engagement ring for my g/f! It seems to me after playing the Mark III a few days now, it has more tonal options (esp. considering the Class A mode) than...

Mesa Mark IV vs. Mark III -- comparing channels

I just got a green stripe Simul-Class Mark III that I'm experimenting with and love. Also looking at selling my Road King I and buying a Mark IV. Could someone explain the sonic differences b/n the two amps? I read somewhere that the green stripe is closer to a Mark IV than earlier stripes...

Half/Full power switch on Mesa Mark III green stripe head ?

OK cool. The half-power (Class A) mode is killer for Gilmour style blues in lead channel. Great sustain and juicy tone with an Epi Elitist Les Paul.

Half/Full power switch on Mesa Mark III green stripe head ?

I saw some info engraved on the top of the tranny (looking from behind, back left -- OT??) It's hard to read b/c of angle but I will check for that model # again. Thanks for the info.

Half/Full power switch on Mesa Mark III green stripe head ?

yeah thx. I read those responses after I posted that. Guess that means half-power = Class A (15 watts???) I honestly don't know how many watts this head runs at in Class A and simul-class. I'm guessing 15 and 85 but not sure. Mark IV with four 6L6 is advertised as 85 watts on the Boogie...

Half/Full power switch on Mesa Mark III green stripe head ?

I recently acquired a used Mesa Mark III green stripe head that sounds phenomenal (and I have a Marshall JCM 800 2205 and Mesa RK to compare this head too!). The user manual I downloaded from Mesa web site only shows the model with the half/full power or class A/simul-class switch ON THE BACK...

RK series 1 problem: Low Power or Loss of Volume

I just talked to Paul Patronete @ Mercury Magnetics and he said that it's possible the power transformer is dying. He said he gets this type of call a lot and referred me to a tech named Alan Cyr in the Los Angeles area. He said that the more you increase the master output/volume, the more...

RK series 1 problem: Low Power or Loss of Volume

i purchased 5 Groove Tube 12AX7C preamp tubes and removed the old ones and installed these new ones. Still has that BURNING smell and the power is weak (master output volume does not increase properly as expected). I have a feeling I damaged one of the transformers (probably the output...

Mesa Mark III green stripe head --question about Simul-Class

hey guys, thx for the responses. sounds good to me. this amp is a monster. i have a road king too and this thing with a genz-benz 2x12 scared me in lead channel around 6 & 6 volume. kicks ***! but I wish it had better artificial harmonic (screams!) like the road king.
