    Mark Iv Question

The Mark IV can handle blues and classic rock just fine. I opted to put 5881 6L6 tubes which really helped me get that classic blues tone from the amp. You certainly won't be disappointed with the Mark IV's versatility. That said, you might also want to consider the Lonestar. - Jason

    External Switching Jacks Mark IV

Thanks 6L6C, that explanation was very helpful. Makes a lot of sense as to why the mechanical switch won't work. There's definitely a lot going into these pedals. - Jason

    External Switching Jacks Mark IV

Thanks, but that's a little bit more than I was looking for in a footswitch. Anyone have some ideas on how I can modify the switch I have to get rid of the volume swell when switching channels? Thanks. - Jason

    External Switching Jacks Mark IV

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using a mechanical switch to do the switching...where might I find a faster switch? Here's a picture of the inside of the switch. Thanks. - Jason

    External Switching Jacks Mark IV

Hi Everyone, I have a Mark IVa and use a custom made footswitch that plugs into the external switching jacks. The reason for this is that I don't mess with the EQ or loops, and generally only switch between two channels. The switch simply selects between one of two channels, and has a much...

Mark IV: New pup and pedal = TONAL NIRVANA!

+1 on the overdrive in with the Mark IV. I absolutely love what an OCD does in front of my Mark IV. It's tonal nirvana. - Jason

    6V6's in Mark IV

The clean channel is superb with 6V6s. However I didn't care much for the R2 or Lead channels. I don't care for a heavily overdriven sound, and I could never quite dial in the sound I was looking for in the r2 or lead channels. I ended up using an OCD pedal with the r2 for overdrive. On the...

substitute for missing mark 4 footswitch...

You can also build your own. I made a simple two channel switch pedal. I took an "insert" cable, stereo 1/4" -> 2 mono 1/4" and I plug the two mono ends into the channels I want to switch between (this pedal will only switch between two channels) in the back of the mark iv. I then found an...

    6L6 STR-440 VS. 5881 STR-425 Russian

I just started using the 5881s in my Mark IV. They are perfect...just what I was looking for. In the Mark IV manual mesa says to use the 5881 for a more "vintage" tone, and that's exactly what they sound like. Basically not as much saturation as the standard 6l6s, but they have the same rich...

Looking to trade Mark IVa for Lone Star 2x12

I'm the original owner of a Mark IVa 1x12 combo that is in great condition. Looking to work out a deal with someone that wants to get rid of a Lone Star 2x12. I'm happy to spend a few $$s if that is what it will take to trade. Please send me a PM if you are interested. - Jason
