Mark III w/broken "guide pins"/index pins on the power tubes

To be on the safe side, I'd just buy new power tubes when the amp comes & use those.

Do you cut, or leave them long?

Nice Christmas Story reference! I cut mine.

How old were you when you started playing guitar?

Started when I was 8, back in 1974. You can do the math.

    Flash of light

Thanks for the reply. Since I originally posted the topic, I've replaced those tubes (hate throwing out tubes  ), but better safe than sorry. I've had them for 7 years so I guess they fulfilled their duty. I haven't brought it to a tech yet, been keeping an eye out & an ear. Volume...

Please help me understand the Mark IVa fx loops

I never tried to plug into both at the same time, but I've noticed that depending on how the rocker switch it set, that makes the appropriate jacks active. Yeah, a bit misleading.

    Small strap knob repair

Thanks, that's what I'll do. I was also thinking about trying to find a wood dowel that would fit, but toothpicks will do just as good! Again, much appreciated.

    Small strap knob repair

I have a 1981 PC custom with the Schaller strap lock system. I've had them on since....1981. The strap knob with the screw on the bottom side just pulled straight out. Luckily I was just changing strings and not wearing it. Should I get a longer screw or try something else? I grew up in a...

    Flash of light

When I turned on my amp the other day, from standby to on, I heard a loud "pop" through the speakers and saw a bright flash of light in one of the power tubes. I turned it back to stand by, inspected and then back to on. No noise and no flash of light. I've turned it on and off several times...

    Orange Rocker 15

I ended up calling Orange, they told me that this amp does not need to be biased. Just a FYI for anyone else.

    Orange Rocker 15

Does anyone know if this amp needs to be biased when changing the EL84 power tubes? I've read that many EL84 tube amps from Orange don't need to be biased. Thanks

    Looking for pickup recommendations

If I were going to replace pickups in either of my Les Pauls, I'd seriously consider Gibson Dirty Fingers pups.

New tubes for the Mark IVa

Always buy my tubes from Tube Depot. If you tell them they are for a Mark IV, they'll send you correct ones.

    Mark IV with 6v6

Nope, but I've always wanted to try. Are you making sure you are only in tweed mode with those tubes, right?

Mark IV ch.2 mod to match ch.3? Mark IV+

Nope, I get really good Marshall tones with my Les Pauls out of CH2. So no, never crossed my mind. Still, I get what you're saying.
