    Mini Rec cab

So what Elvis said above is dead on. They are great cabs. Built well, look good, etc., but you can't mess with science. Well you can.... These cabs aren't deep. Because of that, they wont' have the depth of bottom of a deeper cab. I said a couple years ago that I was going to try to fool...

    Getting back to the TC-50

So since you've made a change that has significantly changed your thoughts on the Mark V, we obviously we need a "revised" V vs. TC comparison

    TA-30 Learner Driver - G'day / need cab advice

I think the differences are only cosmetic, but the red ones (like mine) are prettier! That said, what you got should be great, along with the Warehouse equivalent model. A higher power greenback type should be great with the TA30. ENJOY! And let us know how it works out for you.

    Falling in Love Again

Great amp for the money. Wish I hadn't sold mine.

smoking tone - chan 2 Mark I mode

I have never used the Mark I with the preset EQ because Mark I always needed treble and presence turned way up and bass all the way down or close to it. Using the Preset made it WAY too bassy. I see you have the treble way down though, which could change things considerably. Have to give this...

90W Mark V becomes the BEST Mark with preamp tube tweak?

well.... not a DROP of rain over the weekend or the holiday, so I spent time outdoors working on my sunburn. 8) If the forecast is correct though, we now have about 8 days in a row with over 50% chance, so maybe I'll get some indoor time in soon.

    TA-30 Learner Driver - G'day / need cab advice

A lot of cabs and speakers work great with the TA. My favorite is an Eminence Private Jack. Greenback tones, 50 watt handling. Not expensive! Use your cab and grab an 8 ohm PJ. You will not be sorry!!

90W Mark V becomes the BEST Mark with preamp tube tweak?

"The Best Mark?" Ok, now it's official. You guys are killin' me here!  So, holiday weekend coming up and yet another rainy one.  Should get to try the V4 swap some time this weekend. And, at first the feeling was V4 was better than V6 swap. Are you guys now...

Doug's tubes worst service ever. Buyer beware

weird timing on this. I've bought from Doug before. And, several times, discussed tube swap purchases with him that went back and forth for 3-4 emails with him being extremely helpful and really acting like he cared about me finding my tones. Made suggestions, asked me multiple questions...

Which power setting do you use most?

That is weird because on mine, it's not only not thin, it's definitely warmer sounding. 90 watt mode is heavier, but is also congested sounding unless mids are almost bottomed out on the 750 slider. Mesa says the 45 watt mode is biased hotter so it makes sense that it would be a bit warmer...

Which power setting do you use most?

I have gotten good tones out of all three power sections. Certainly the 10 watt is it's own thing and can be very cool. But for most gig-volume levels, most people would use 45 or 90. I find 45 and 90 significantly different. I find 45 much warmer and have decided that I almost always think...

    Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. My obvious issue now is, I like to do tube swaps while auditioning. Turn everything off, swap a pre-amp tube, fire it back up and compare. Thank God my coffee roasting hobby requires an "Ov Glove" type thing so maybe I can do this without 3rd degree...

    Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

So, good news and bad news on the V4 swap attempt. Last night I dig out my tube stash. Find the NOS 5751. Good #1. While browsing through the box, I find one I'd forgotten about... NOS Mullard 12AT7! Good#2. Now I'm excited. I had played for 30 minute or so to get a last feel for stock...

Complimentary speaker for Rectoverb 25 combo

Speakers are SO subjective... It depends on what tones you're after. Several speakers would mate well with your speaker, but depending on which you choose would color the mix in different directions. What are you looking for?

    Mark I Mode

I can't use the preset EQ at all with the Mark 1 Channel. It boosts bass way way way too much for me to turn it up to even 10:00. I either use the graphic with an upwards slanted line, bass cut to treble boosted, or else I don't use it at all if I don't want to sacrifice it from C3. I don't...

    Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

so before I try this, when used in V4, are you still having to turn the loop return up, and if so, how much?

    Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

p.s. So, no, not trying to hijack the thread to a tube rolling thread, but... that's one overwhelming "yes" to the Doug's kit, and one "no." Which is why this is all so much fun. LOL One guy loves it, one hates it.... that's what is a bit daunting about the V, honestly. If that tube kit...

    Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

While we're on this topic.... anyone here tried the Dougs Tubes preamp cocktail for the V? I've seem some guys at TGP say it literally saved the amp for them. THey were ready to sell it and now it's the dream amp they thought it would be. I know this is all subjective. Supposedly his latest...
