    New member intro MKIII owner

Welcome, I’ve owned two Mark III combos. Good amps.

New to MB Board and new MB owner! Question about Mark IIB

We need pictures. Two power tubes or four? If no power reduction switch, its most likely two 6L6’s at 60 watts. I actually prefer these over the Simul-Class models.

    Early Mark 1

Thanks for the great information. Schematics would be great. The is at my tech currently for a checkup. I appreciate the help.

New to the Forum New Fillmore 50 On the Way

Congratulations. The Fillmore 50 combo is also the one that I would want. Kind of slow here, especially after I recently got back on the site. Hope things pick up. Keep us updated on your new amp.

Who here DOESN'T use the "Classic V" grapic EQ set

I no longer own a Mesa with an EQ, but I do sometimes use my 7-Band Boss EQ. I normally use a shallow “V” with my EQ, usually even shallower “V” than the photo below.

    Early Mark Series Resource

Me too. I recently purchased a ‘75 Mark 1 and would love to know more about it.

    Early Mark 1

Hi Mark, thanks for responding. I’ll try to pull the chassis this week and get some photos. I believe the cab has been redone, I would like to restore it back to original as much as possible.
  8. DC3 Gridlock

    Early Mark 1

I was hoping to get some information about this amp, with all the knowledge people here.
  9. DC3 Gridlock

    Early Mark 1

Picked this up last weekend. I believe it is an early to mid ‘70s Mark 1. It’s either in a re-tolex’d cab or a newer cab. I’m guessing 100/60 watts with a Boost/Normal switch and Reverb. Probably the best sounding Boogie that I’ve owned.

    1984 S.O.B. I Like It

Thanks David, the amp sounds great with this speaker so no plans to replace it. I read that this JBL weighs 22 lbs by itself. I had EV ‘s in all my other Mark series combos and this amp probably weighs 10 lbs more than any of them.

    1984 S.O.B. I Like It

Thank you for the information, I’ll definitely test these settings. I’m mainly playing Blues, Santana, ZZ Top, and Zeppelin type music. I’m still impressed with the amp. Curious, do you think that the JBL in my amp might be a special factor order? I have not found another Mesa with this...

    Thanks, it’s a ‘97 Les Paul Custom ‘57 RI.

    1984 S.O.B. I Like It

Sold my last Boogie almost a year ago, it was a Mark III Black Dot. I picked up this SOB a couple of weeks ago. This combo has a JBL E120 inside (not sure if this was original to the amp). The Mark IIB’s have always been my favorite Mesa amp, and I have owned quite of few different Mesa amps...

Mark III black dot (raspy overdrive)

I’ve played with the push-pull knobs (bass pull-shift and master1 pull-deep) using Volume 1 and got improved cleans. I was also able to get the amp sounding good with my J-Rockett Dude OD pedal while using the Volume 1 channel. Next, I’ll work with the Rhythm 2 channel and I may just give up...

Mark III black dot (raspy overdrive)

Thanks, I have a lot of extra pre amp tubes to try.
  16. DC3 Gridlock

Mark III black dot (raspy overdrive)

Just bought what appears to be a near-mint condition Mark III (black dot or stripe?). It’s loaded with an EVM12L, Simul-Class, and Reverb. Only seems to be missing an onboard EQ. I’ve owned a couple of Mark IIB’s, a couple of Mark I RI’s, and another Mark III about few years ago (blue stripe)...

Thanks I would love to post some pictures but I’m unsure on how to post photos here. Grid

    Got my Boogie Back

Thanks Mark, Never thought that I’d get this amp back again. Pretty happy. The Mesa completes my amp collection for now.

    Got my Boogie Back

NAD and back again being a Mesa owner. I first bought this 1982 Mark IIB in 2011, traded it five years later for a vintage Fender amp. I regretted selling this amp ever since then. Even after owning a couple of Mark 1 RI's, another Mark IIB, and a Mark III. This amp is pretty unique, blue...
