Well you sure the hell will not get any sag with the 105 at 505V DC under load. The exports and 60W were 448V under load and are less harsh.
An older 100 or something in the 460V range is more musical unless you are using Drop C.
Best C+ I ever heard was a IIB Export PCB upgrade to IIC+. 440V...
Bias cap ?
The power supply has two new BMI 220uf and two newer sprague and an original yellow from 81. The bias cap is original too.
I have seen these bias caps fail a few times.
DO NOT CLEAN THE SLIDERS !!! The grease used in the slider will wash out and never feel right again and it is a major pain to swap 5 sliders.
Leave them alone.
I have single getter STR-387 Labeled Mesa STR-415 and dual getter STR-415 labeled Mesa 415. It really boils down to supply and not wanting to change the screening paint STR-415's. The 7581A is a copy of the 415, but 35 watts. Too much headroom to me for a guitar amp , but bass it should be fine.
Until the 37 relays and complicated circuit go down. I have owned 11 C+'s and the JP sounds nothing like any of them.
The reissue will only make the originals go up in value as this is a meager attempt to cash in on marketing hype.
Sounds like a massaged MK IV to me.
While restoring and chasing DC on too many pots on an all original and unused 84' 60W Graphic - Reverb, I checked
the lead circuit without the 1000pf bright cap. It was so harsh I still have tinnitus. Too metal for metal. Simul without it is not too bad.
I would suspect that a 2000pf cap will...
The impedance on the IIB output transformer is designed for 6L6 power tubes. I'm sure that it can handle 6CA7's but I don't think it's a good idea. Maybe a difference in the top end, but not worth it.
Sounded like a good amp to me, but not exactly like an original C+. Not hairy enough and it does not have that immediate sense of doom the originals have. The real C+ has no manners and the JP-2C seems very refined.
The IIC I I saw was # 12186 and was a 1X12 SRX with an RP-11A.
I found another IIC+ on Craigslist in Kingston, NY and went to go buy the amp. When I got there it was a IIC I
in the early 12000 range and it passed the loop test and had a Pull Deep face plate. However, it did not sound
like a C+...
The caps circled in white are for the tone circuit.
250pf Treble
750pf Treble- Pull Shift on 1000pf
.1 uf Bass
.047uf Midrange
The ones circled in pink are for the pull shift circuit. The B side cathode cap is right below it (Yellow Kemet 15uf).
Pin 8 is where it is connected to. The higher...
What is the value of the cap on V1B pin 8 ? Both caps for the V1 are right behind the bass pot. The one on V1 A has a .47uf cap and a 15f cap connected to the pull shift function.
