Just a few general comments or opinion of the Badlander 100W

I had an Electrodyne for about a year. The low gain sound was excellent. You could really push vintage high if you boosted it and basically dimed *everything*. The volume taper was ridiculous, though. Painfully loud amplifiers. The attenuators for the RAs made all kinds of sense. I made this...

Just a few general comments or opinion of the Badlander 100W

This is really a great thread, Bandit. I'm assessing my own collection and am preparing to let some things go. Looking at my TC50 compared to my BL100 right now and your points are pretty compelling.

    Bought a Mark VII!

Regarding IIC+ mode, I tried it out and immediately thought "okay, that's covered" - huge, snarling, 3D sound. Did not feel as thin to me as the V and I'm wondering if this was designed with PULL DEEP active. It definitely feels closer to the JP2C sound than the V, except that I prefer this over...

    Bought a Mark VII!

And I love it! Feels like this is The One for me. Channel options work great for me, basically sticking with Clean, Crunch, and IIC+ mode. I usually keep the eq off but it really sculpts the sound well when it is in use. This is the best IIC+ mode I have experienced. I am feeling my attachment...

    FX LOOP BYPASS SOUNDS GREAT!

I still use v4 and v6 together, but most people pick one or the other.

    FX LOOP BYPASS SOUNDS GREAT!

Yeah, I think the thread covers the details nicely. Sometimes I think it’s just due to how aggressive the volume taper is with the loop bypassed - I end up playing at a higher volume than I do with the output volume working and think “oh that’s so much better”. But I do think there’s really...

    Export Transformer Question

Ooo I didn’t realize that that the export transformer was a model modifier. So mine is a blue stripe DRGX! That’s awesome :)

The Mark V is a Masterpiece

Sorry, I missed this question! If you are running in IIC+ mode, it will sound WAY better with a speaker cabinet on the ground. IIC+ has PULL DEEP disabled, and the ground effect gives it the oomph it will sound like it's missing. If you're using IV or Extreme, keeping it on casters is fine.

    Export Transformer Question

The export transformer on my '88 blue stripe Mark III is 571100/E1A606740. I know that E1A6060 indicates that it's a Schumacher transformer, but this isn't equivalent to an X101, right? I've never really known, so I thought I'd ask.

Downgrading from a Mark V to a Rectoverb 25 Head...

If you're just looking for lower power at home, running your V in 10 watt mode across the board is going to be lower power than the Recto 25. I've owned both and the V is a lot more valuable to me.

Help with TC-50 Triple Crown and MIDI

Hey buddy, It's easier to just put together a bunch of settings you like and then assign them to a specific Program Change number. The basic process is: 1. Use your controller (your Rocktron here) to send a Program Change number to your amp on the channel you have your amp set to. 2. Get the...

Dumb question, but why does it feel like Recto's "Need" a boost or OD to sound best?

I always figured that it was a way to allow the amp to cover a few more genres. Without a boost, in spongy mode, it's great for hard rock like Queen. WITH a boost and full power it's ready to go for brutal, tight tracking metal. I like using it both ways a lot.

My IIC+ SR is the best IIC+ I've experienced. There, I said it.

Can confirm. My purple stripe Mark III S is a little fire breather.

    MK III purple stripe combo

I wanted to try and pull this amp into the present day, so I ordered an updated head shell and new Mark V-style knobs for it. The IIIs have a lot more real estate for the controls, so I went with the large ones. Here’s how it turned out. May not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it:

    Gloriously Brutal Mark I Metal

I just came across this video by Jeremiah Augustine on Facebook. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jpdv0oVk610&feature=youtu.be I love it.

    MK III purple stripe combo

That is really interesting to hear. I love my 60 watt Mark III, but has there been something in particular recognized about the 60 watt models? When I compare my purple stripe S vs my blue stripe DRG, the purple comes out on top. I'd chalked it up solely due to stripe differences.

Lack of Low-end on channel 3?

Lack of Low-end on channel 3?

Well, uh, you know. Throw it on the ground: (make sure the speaker cabinet is directly on the floor. use mark iv mode if you want it to have a heavier sound, as iv has PULL DEEP hard-wired on)
