One thing you may want to try is running a patch cable for your effects loop. In the TA-30, the effects loop must be engaged in order to use the reverb. I wonder if the issue may be in that part of the amp.

The forum traffic (or lack thereof) is a mystery to me too. There are a lot of Mesa users out there. Never used the TA-15. I have the TA-30, and love it.

Think of R2 as an extension to R1. Some nice tones in there. I use it with my SG quite a bit. Love my Mark IV.

Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by "spikey"? I use EL34 in the outer slots of my Mark IV and love what it brings. I run in class "A" most of the time. But, sometimes I switch to simul-class to get the 6L6s in to the mix.

I like. I have a Mark IV, and I can get decent Marshall sounds out of channel 2 - with my SG. For some reason, not so much the LP.
