    Mesa Nomad 45... school me!

Very cool. The 45 has a switch for the NFB. Makes it very nice.

Warm up time for a Mark amp?

I do know that my Mark IV sounds better after it is used for a while. Sitting in "standby" doesn't seem to assist one way or the other (as others have said). I know it's not in the Mark lineage, but my Nomad does not need that sort of "warmup" time. Now, if I could only get them both to make...

Road King II 12AX7 tubes task/layout

It should be the one all the way on the left, looking at it from the back. You can go to http://mesaboogie.com/media/User%20Manuals/Road%20King.pdf to download a copy of the manual. Hope this helps.

    Mesa Nomad 45... school me!

Mine has the MC90. So does my Mark IV. I am quite pleased with how both of them sound.

    Mesa Nomad 45... school me!

Sounds like you are definitely enjoying your Nomad! They seem to be the "ugly dog" in the Mesa breeding line - either you hate them or you love them. People complain about them. I guess we are the lucky ones! Channel 1 is very responsive to having an OD pedal in front of it. I play my Jester...

Any non-metal players here (jazz, blues, R&B, funk, soul)?

Absolutely. On my Mark IV's clean channel, I max the preamp gain, set the EQ based on which guitar I am using, and then get the most wonderful "jazzy" sound. I'ts a clean sound, but breaks when you apply pressure. PS: I hardly ever play anything metal or high-gain. The Mark IV works for me!

Preamp tubes for the DC-5, positions etc.

Found this on an old thread. (Quoted from user "John Phillips"). On the DC series, the tubes are: V1 - first gain stages for both channels V2 - second and third gain stages for the lead channel only V3 - fourth gain stage for the lead channel and FX loop return stage V4 - second and third gain...

how to connect Mk4 to G system

Sorry. Don't have a G-System. You may want to try posting this also on TGP (The Gear Page). There may be someone there that has one and can help you.

[audio] medium gain Mark III R2 sample

I listened to it this morning. I like how it sounds with drums and bass added to it. I think the bass tone that you chose was a good one to match up to what you were doing with the guitar. Neither of them intruded on the other one's space. Nice.

    Blue Angel epiphany

Amen! I set aside some practice time for "gear" time. All I do during those sessions is mess around and try new and different things with my amps and pedals. I've discovered a lot of new (to me) capabilities of my amps. Most recently, I tried my Mark IV with the preamp gain on channel 1...

    Nomad 55 1x12 value?

I bought my Nomad 45 1x12 2 years ago and paid only $400 from Guitar Center (I got a very good deal). Personally, I would not pay $700 for a 55. I would guess that $600 - $625 would be a good price for both the seller and the buyer. Hope that helps.

    Mark IV Lead Channel problem

After I had my Nomad for a few years it developed a small issue. We have no one within several hours of driving that can service Mesa amps. So, I pulled the chassis and sent it to Mesa. George (don't know his last name) worked on it and did an excellent job. While he was in there, he fixed a few...

    All 6L6 tubes or 6L6 and EL34's?

Don't know. I've never run my Mark IV with 6L6s only. I like having the EL34s in there for two reasons:(1) I can run in "class A" and use only the EL34s and (2) Simul-class sounds so good with the two tube types. The breakup on EL34s is just different enough that I want to keep the option of...

    Nomad 45 Channel 2 gone - help?

How are you liking your Nomad? I have a Nomad 45 1x12 combo and love it! I bought it dirt-cheap at a Guitar Center (via telephone). It had some serious issues, but, GC address every single issue on their dime - including shipping. (Karl at the GC in University Park in Chicago was a super help in...

MARK5:25 mode – switching channels and modes via footswitch

I asked the same question of my Express 5:50 (non-plus) version that I had a year or so ago. Owners were wanting to know why there was not a foot-switch for the 4 different modes. I don't remember the exact technical reason, but it was because there was more to it than just a switch.

    The Mark IV thread....!!

Just realized I had never posted a picture of my Mesa amps.

    Mark IV tone question?

Good point. I should have mentioned this in my earlier post, but didn't think about it. Class A mode is a key component. I run EL34s for the outside tubes. It makes a difference at volume.

Switching from Class A to Simul Class on Mk IV

Perhaps I don't understand the question. But, my Mark IV has a rocker switch to allow switching between Class A and Simul-Class at any time. Also, there is a jack in the back where you can plug in a foot-switch for switch between the two modes. But, like I said, I may be missing the question.

    "SOLO" Feature Amps

My Nomad has the feature, but I end up using it a lot less than I thought that I would. My Mark IV doesn't have it. It would be nice sometimes, but I find that I don't miss it that much now.

New setup with my Mark IV

I did some adjustments to my setup with my Mark IV. I found it interesting and fun to use. And, with the recent rise in the number of threads associated with the Mark IV, I thought I would share it with everyone else. Here is what I have done: I plug my guitar into my Effectrode Blackbird. The...
