    MarkIV or Roadking???

I own the MarkIV. I have tried out the Road King. I have the MarkIV, as it is very versatile, capable of searingly loud gain chunky crunch tones, fuzzy bluesy tones, crystal clear clean tones, mid-scoop tones as well as squawky mid-spiked tones, is usable at low volumes, has direct recording...

Quick tone test vid of my MarkIV

Okay, I've made a new video, mainly to test out the recording quality of my camera. Full Details are on the page. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4orcV-N2-jY I much prefer the tones in this clip, compared to my previous clip. The thickness and crunch comes through better. Also I am using a...

Evolution of the tonal/midrange voicing in Mesa/Boogie amps-

It just seems that most of the bass available, is unusable. Does anyone know why the 5-band EQ is not on the Recto amps?

When did the Mesa logo change ?

I hate the "MESA Engineering" logo, I think it's damn ugly. When I got my Mesa/Boogie cabinet, I ripped off the "MESA Engineering" logo and screwed on the cool MESA/BOOGIE logo, and now along with my MarkIV with the "Boogie" logo on the front, looks wicked! 8)

Fair enough. Thanks for your input. My belief is that there are two types of pretentious behaviour. One is being such a snob, as to think that giving their opinion to someone they believe is of very low value, is not worth their time & effort to speak of. The other is that they have such a...

Evolution of the tonal/midrange voicing in Mesa/Boogie amps-

That does help. Thank you. 8) I have another question though- why is it that on the Mark series amps as well as the Rectos, is the bass so excessive? People (including myself) often blame the Recto amps for sounding rumbly and flubby when the bass is cranked, especially with high gain...

Quick tone test vid of my MarkIV

I was requesting answers from the 512 people that read the thread but didn't reply to it. I was referring to them as snobs, as I felt the feeling that they thought they were too good to give comment on the video clip. I also felt that the people that did give comment, were being pretentious...

I'm not offended by you saying those things, so I won't pretend that you didn't say them. I'd only be offended if you didn't back yourself up, and would just hound me constantly and be mean and put me down for anything and be harsh and elitist, as I have experienced in the past. You haven't...

Some of the feedback I received elsewhere. "nice clean tone man but the chorus with the crunch sounded less cool but still good." "Sounds nice man, I wish I had the $ to get one." "i really liked the clean tone" "Sounded good!! Awesome amp I really liked the fullness and warmness in the...

Evolution of the tonal/midrange voicing in Mesa/Boogie amps-

Cool, thanks everyone so far for getting this discussion started. But, does anyone actually know how much the midrange voicing has dropped between each amp? Eg., what frequency is the midrange voice of the MarkIIC+? Of the MarkIV? Of the Dual Rectifier tremoverb? Get an oscilloscope if ya...

Quick tone test vid of my MarkIV

Ideally, I (and lots of other people) would have a perfect recording of their amp, but often that isn't the case. YouTube tends to degrade the quality anyway, but most people can get by the crappy room "honk" and give some opinion on what they think of the sound. In other places I managed to get...

Best Chorus for the Mark IV

Wait up, I just caught something... Well, how would the chorus effect sound if placed in the signal chain between the guitar and a cranked high-gain valve amp? And, does the solo is this video clip demonstrate the "1980s L.A. sound"?
