Mark IV and major metal bands

Those Orange Rockerverb 100 amps are really cool sounding. They're totally the new Marshall amp for rock guitars.

half back 4x12 on ebay. good price!

Hey, I'm a fellow Boogie player in Raleigh. Currently working on getting the halfback, though! Who do you play with? My band's going to be playing out again in a few months after a long writing hiatus.

FS: mark III green stripe long head

Ive heard according to MB the easiest to mod to IIIC+ status is the red stripe, which leads me to believe that is more electronically close to the IIC+..

IV Owners: Full or Tweed Power?

Jesus, that has to be LOUD? Is that with a 4x12? And I thought I practiced with my band loud, being at master 4 and lead master 3.5 in simulclass.

It doesnt matter, anyway. The tone is in his biceps! :)

    Cab choice for my MkIV

I've been hearing good things about Splawn cabs, too. I dig their slant cab that has a straight baffle, so all speakers still fire on the same plane.

    Cab choice for my MkIV

I'm interested in what people have to say here, too, as I'm looking for a new slant 4x12 cab for my Mark amps. I currently have an Avatar 4x12 slant with two v12 and two m12 speakers, but I am thinking that a better cab may do better justice to this amp. Bummer how hard it is to try out cabs...

    The Mark IV thread....!!

R2 isn't going to get you Vai/DT/Death tones. If you boost it you may be able to get it to do what you want, but really you need the lead channel for those tones. If you want a scooped rhythm tone and a singing lead tone, well, that's why the EQ is footswitchable! Scoop the mids on the lead...

Mark IV for Power Metal ?

I think that the PowerBall isn't a great choice for power metal--it's to agressive sounding. Works good for thrash and death metal bands, but power metal bands need tighter response and smoother lead sounds. I think the Mark IV is probably THE amp you want.

    metal thud?

You'll want 6l6s for that tight low end response. I find the El34s sag the low end too much and rob it of it's deepness.

Which Stompboxes Compliment the Mark IV?

I dunno about the Mark IV (I'm hoping to get one soon), but my Mark III take a Digitech Bad Monkey really well. I've been using it recently on the lead channel when I want more crunch or to slightly fatten up solo tone (I've backed the lead gain on it down a lot as well to compensate for the...

Looking for a used Mark IV short head. Revision A, ideally.

Mark IV-change channels with G Major

You really need to buy a wah pedal and stick it out in front of the preamp for this to sound good. There is a suggested setting to try on TC electronics FAQ on their site somewhere, but I tried it and it sounded horrible and brittle. There's really no effects loop substitution for a wah...

CFX4 to switch MKIV (cable related)

Yeah I'm also wondering about the custom Axess cable. I assume that since the CFX4 only has 4 relays, the cable allow you to plug one cable from the axess into the footswitch jack, and controller R1, R2, Lead and EQ? (Note that according to Axess' site, you need to have the device modified for...

    Mark III Volume mod?

Or maybe it would make sense to go with a Mark IV. I wonder if I'd miss the rawness of the III?

    Mark III Volume mod?

Having a boost just isn't practical in a live setting for me. I need to throw distortion on and off and the drop of a hat. I have to flip enough switches to tap & switch coils that I don't need a pedal dance to go along with it. Has anyone owned both a Mark III and a Quad? I'm wondering if...

    Mark III Volume mod?

I've hear that it is possible to get a Mark III modded so that another independent volume knob can be added for the clean channel. I love my Mark III's dirty sound, but for the band I'm in I need the volume set to (at least) close to 7. This is too high for the clean channel, and the clean...
