    Picking the perfect boogie...

I don't remember the Quad Preamp Combo :)

Mark V and G Major 2 Channel Switching

I'd like for Authorized Boogie to chime in on this and whether it's safe. I have a G Major 2 as well and have been scared to test it on my Mark V.

MK V Extreme Less Gain Than IV Setting?

My Extreme is just louder, looser and.. I dunno, I havent found a use for it yet. They should have made the Extreme mode the presence pull-shift of the Mark IV. Maybe I should roll tubes but it's no where close. The Mark IV's (real Mark IV) lead channel is getting used more and more lately.

NAD! I finally, finally have my dream amp :D

    A G Major 2 pairs really well in a Mark V loop.

    Picking the perfect boogie...

If you're after Metallica why not just get what they used? Get a Mark IV combo or even a Mark V combo. I own both. They ARE the quintessential Hetfield tone. No other amp is going to give you that sound, only a Mark.

    Picking the perfect boogie...

Not sure if you're aware or not but the Triaxis is only a preamp. Not the combo you're looking for.

Can a Mark V footswitch control a Recto at the same time?

Oh I'd never just start hooking stuff up until I was 100% sure I knew what I was doing.

    OD in front - Wow!

OD's add a certain pick-attack and feel that you don't with straight tube overdrive.

    OD in front - Wow!

You'd think someone like SRV would have known better than to use an OD pedal.......

Can a Mark V footswitch control a Recto at the same time?

Interesting. Does it have to be speaker wire? Will instrument cables work?

Can a Mark V footswitch control a Recto at the same time?

Hmmmm, maybe I could use the relays on the G Major 2 to switch the Recto.

Mark IV Amp Settings Crash Course

Both my Mark IV and V sound incredible at low volumes. On the other hand my Triple Rec does not sound so hot at tv volumes... it really needs to be cranked.

Mark IV Amp Settings Crash Course

I'm a huge supporter of Tubscreamers with every amp EXCEPT a Mark. I just don't think it needs it and in fact negatively effects it IMO - removes the bass and adds mids that aren't needed. How long have you owned the amp? I'm thinking you just don't have the tone and eq tweaked to your liking...

Mark IV Amp Settings Crash Course

The differences are less apparent at low volumes. Here's a greatly oversimplified explanation. Class A lowers the wattage so you get less volume. Tweed power lowers the internal voltage so you also get less volume and a softer feel. Pentode is tighter and more immediate so it makes chugga...

Mesa boogie mark iv or mark v advice

It's just been so long since I've bothered with R1 and R2 on the IV. The Mark V's are such a vast improvement I just use the IV for R3 exclusively.

Can a Mark V footswitch control a Recto at the same time?

Is it possible to have like a splitter cable and have one footswitch control the channels on both the Mark V and Recto at the same time? I don't care about reverb, boost etc. I just would like a single footswitch to switch between channels 1, 2 and 3 and both amps at the same time.

Anyone running a full stack with a 4x12 and 2x12 cabs?

Would it sound weird to run a head through a 4x12 recto cab on the left and a 2x12 recto cab on the right - spaced out about 10 feet? Would the 2x12 have noticeably less volume?
