Anyone else love Mark 1 mode?

I'm sure that may be true but I really don't want to have to be burdened with swapping out tubes and making drastic GEQ changes that only work for that particular mode just to make Channel 2 Mode 3 usable.

Question for Mesa Boogie Rep or Guru

Something I didn't know existed until recently is the voodoo lab amp switcher. It's way cheaper than the GCX.

Anyone else love Mark 1 mode?

No, I hate it. Too dark.

Question for Mesa Boogie Rep or Guru

So all you did was connect the Channel switching Jackie together with a standard guitar cable? AuthorizedBoogie - since it appears this indeed does work, is there any potential damage that this can cause to either amp?

Question for Mesa Boogie Rep or Guru

Will this work with the 3 channels non-multi watt Recto????

Question for Mesa Boogie Rep or Guru

AmpSync would be a cool feature of future Mesa Boogie amps!!!

    Mark IIC+ vs Mark V

Dave Friedman knows how to demo his amps. Not sure why Marshall and Mesa's demos sound so sterile.

    Mark IIC+ vs Mark V

Marks are known for being tight. Not sure why that's an odd attribute or suprise for you

    FRACTAL AUDIO AXE-FX II

How is the axe fx II as a standalone effects unit in the loop say compared to a G Major 2?

Is the Mark V the last of the Mark series?

You're kidding right.... Right? Anyway, I've thought about this myself. I think it's poor marketing on Mesa's part that's left them in such a pickle. Exteme mode should have just been called "Lead" or even "V", that way the Mark V has an identity going forward.

    First Rectifier! All Opinions Welcome!!

You're probably right about the Black album tone - with all the multi-tracking etc - but my Triple doesn't exactly get that either. I get closest by playing my Triple and Mark IV in stereo. But I like the feel of my Mark IV and Mark V in stereo better. The Recto adds a certain sag that I don't...

    First Rectifier! All Opinions Welcome!!

Just make sure the tone you're chasing isn't in fact a Mesa Mark tone - which is the Metallica sound. While a Recto sounds huge, It isn't the tightest amp for thrash. It feels slow to respond with fast riffing. A Tubescreamer will help close the gap though.

Vids of artist using mesa mark v live?

Marks versions aren't like Marshalls in that Marshall releases a new different sounding amp every decade. Marks iterations, the lead channel anyway, are just refinements of the basic "Mark tone" - they're aren't as drastic a change as say a JCM 800 was to a JCM 900 for example. Listen to...

The Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording Preamp Thread

Wouldn't an AxFx work better for your setup? Rectos are meant to push some air, not 1's and 0's.

Running a Mark V with Road King II?

I run a Mark V in stereo with a Triple split out front using the stereo outs of a Flashback delay. It sounds AMAZING, absolutely huge. The Recto really fills out the low end complementing the V very well. I run effects (G Major 2) through the V's loop and leave the Recto 100% dry. Trying to run...

Mesa Grid Slammer vs Maxon OD808

Maybe stiff is the wrong word. Lacks pick attack? The bass isnt as focused as it could be IMO. Palm mutes sound sharper and clearer with a boost, less flubby, more focused. I don't use a boost with my Marks.

Mesa Grid Slammer vs Maxon OD808

I also agree that a Recto needs a Tubescreamer type boost to tighten it up. It's a little too loose and stiff without one.... makes a world of difference with my Triple.

Don't let that stop you. If I could only have one I'd keep the V. It's way way more versatile. I got the V first and loved it for years. If you haven't played through a IV then you won't know any difference. Plus the clean and crunch channels are kind of meh on the IV compared to the V's.

As an owner of a Mark IV and Mark V I can say without any doubt that the Mark IV's lead channel was way more balls and aggression compared to the Mark V. I will try this tonight and see what happens. I'm not holding my breath.
