Mark IV: What's the point of having Left & Right Effect Returns?

That makes total sense. I didn't think about loop bypassing.

Mark IV: What's the point of having Left & Right Effect Returns?

Right, but if I understand correctly, the Simul-Satellite is just a Mesa branded Poweramp + GEQ + Speaker packaged into a combo format. Still not sure why a stereo fx processor wouldn't just route one channel directly to the Satellite, instead of sending both channels back to the IV, then going...

    Mark V - Barely Audible w/Loop Engaged

Surely it's got to be the SEND return tube... I just look at the back of the amp and there's a cage AND a row of power tubes in the way. This is going to be fun...

Mark IV: What's the point of having Left & Right Effect Returns?

I get that the whole satellite feature is to achieve a stereo rig using a 2nd poweramp/speaker, but I don't understand they the Mark IV has 2 FX returns - L and R. What is the benefit of sending both returns of your Stereo FX Processor back to the Mark IV? Why wouldn't you send Return Left to...

    Mark V - Barely Audible w/Loop Engaged

I tried a jumper cable but it didn't seem to help.

    Mark V - Barely Audible w/Loop Engaged

All of a sudden the volume level across all 3 channels is very, very low. The loop send knob is set at 12 noon like it always is. If I hard-bypass the loop on the back everything seems to work fine. Once I engage the loop most of the volume disappears. This effects all channels in 10, 45 and 90...

Help: Removing Mark IV Chassis from Combo

Thanks. I finally got it out. Just hand to manhandle it a bit. I guess something got bunched up towards the front.

Help: Removing Mark IV Chassis from Combo

I'm trying to convert my Mark IV Combo to a Head (just got my new headshell from Mesa today) but I can't seem to get the chassis out. I've removed the 4 screws on the top, the fan, the reverb tank and removed all the power tubes. I've turned the amp upside down but the chassis doesn't want to...

Flux five for good Mark IV tones?

Hmmm maybe I’m wrong. I thought it was just a glorified TS9.

Flux five for good Mark IV tones?

The Flux Five is an OD pedal, meaning it's meant to push a tube amp into overdrive, or tighten up an already distorted amp. It's not an "amp in the box" style distortion pedal so that would explain why it pails in comparison to your Mark V. What you're looking for a "distortion" pedals, not...

New signature Hetfield Mesa Mark amp ?

A Recto and IV preamp in the same head with a blend knob... there's your black album tones.

    Mark IV is amazing!

Just stop while you're ahead.

Slave Power Amp - Triple Rec vs Mark V?

As the title states, which amp would make a better power amp if you were going to use it as a slave? I'd be using it in a stereo setup with either a Mark IV or JCM 800 driving it. Not sure if there would be any difference but thought I'd ask.

    Boogie Mark V brown sound

Well... I've always hated channel 2 until now. Sounds much more Marshally now with these settings. I've always thought both Crunch and Edge were thin and wimpy sounding. Who know zeroing out the bass would have done the trick, lol. However, I'm getting more hot-rodded AC/DC than Van Halen with...

Controlling Dual Rectifier and Mark V with GCX

Would a GCX loop be considered "isolated"?

Controlling Dual Rectifier and Mark V with GCX

I'm not sure if everyone's aware of this but Voodoo labs has a dedicated relay switcher that's only like $200. With 4 isolated relay controls it can toggle between all 3 channels on your Mark V and Recto in tandem. I would buy one of those and save your GCX loops for effects...

Controlling Dual Rectifier and Mark V with GCX

Oh - I thought he was trying to split the signal to both amps AND use the switching jacks to change channels. If he's just wanting to change channels on both amps with the GCX then send a GCX loop OUT or SEND (depending on if it's normally open or normally closed) to each amp's channel...

Controlling Dual Rectifier and Mark V with GCX

I have the exact same setup all working properly. Return that Y cable, you'll get ground loop hum. Buy a proper ABY pedal that has a ground lift switch like the Radial ones and split the signal and place it at the very end of your signal chain and split from there into the input of each amps...

Day 9: Still no sign of the elusive Mini Mark

Hope you're ok with the lack of bass compared to your Road King or Roadster you sold.

Day 9: Still no sign of the elusive Mini Mark

You going to be ok with the "smaller bass" of the Mark compared to your old recto?
