REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

For reals. Sometimes honesty is not the best policy.

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

We have a really good tech in town that's been working on tube amps since Vietnam. He has a "No Stairway Mesa" sign in his shop.

What did Mike B have to say?

I don't know what that means. No experience with Supros.

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Can anyone comment on the build quality of the Reissue? Someone over at Rig-Talk is saying the reissue's knobs/pots and sliders feel flimsy/cheap.

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I can't speak for the IIC+ but I could NEVER get my Master up past 3 (much less 5 or 6, wtf) on my Mark IV or it would be too loud for live band use. The taper on the IV's is NOT linear, it's exponential.

    Bought a Mark VII!

Interesting. Yeah, I sold the Mark V after a couple years b/c it sounded "small" no matter how loud I cranked it. Too compressed. Lifeless. The Mark IV is still the benchmark for me on pure aggression and openness. Curious how the VII compares.

That was an awful demo IMO.

Reissue mark IIC + end of the month

After decades of using channel switchers I've reverted back to "one-trick pony" amps and their simplicity.

Seems like a lot of these iconic players only used Boogies for a brief period.

Odd Design Choices: Why is Mark IV Volume Pot so Sensitive?

I usually crank the channel masters, so maybe that's it. I'll have to turn them down and see if the main volume pot is more linear.

Odd Design Choices: Why is Mark IV Volume Pot so Sensitive?

The IV's lead channel is indeed incredible but the user interface has only the face a mother could love.

Odd Design Choices: Why is Mark IV Volume Pot so Sensitive?

I've got lots of old Marshalls and none of them jump in volume quite like the Mark IV.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

Agreed. All the "in-between" tones of my Mark amps are just lesser versions of the lead channel. None wow me enough to ever use them. In fact, all they do is piss me off and make me wish I was playing a real Marshall, Fender etc.

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

Tighter low end w/EL34s? That's the opposite of what I would expect.

Finding "that" Mesa sound: How do Mesa amps feel in general? (compared to an 800?)

Marks are great if you want great clean tones and that Metallica-style tight dry gain. It doesn't sound or feel anything like an 800 though. It won't cut through a live band mix near as well because of the compression.
