I had a 50 watt 5150 III head for a while and wasn't really a fan. It was very, very compressed. I infinitely prefer the Peavey version. As far as the Mark V 25, I'd definitely take one of those over the 5150...but they're very different amps.

Thinking about trying EL34's again. Looking for something tight and percussive with a smooth top end. I've tried Tung-Sol EL34b's in the past and really liked them. Anyone else have any suggestions? They'd be going into a boosted 3 channel Triple Recto.

I think a lot of people dial in Rectifiers with their eyes instead of their ears. What works EQ-wise on a Marshall rarely works on a Boogie. Most of my setting look fairly unconventional. They also don't really hide anything. When I'm having an off day or haven't been practicing...
