    Mesa Triple Crown TC-50 2nd & 3rd channels noisy

Yeah, this is good advice. I have a BAD100W that gets a lot of use. I never hear any noises such as a bad preamp tube (typical popcorn noises) except when the guitarist comes over to jam, the amp sounds like it has bad preamp tubes and is going to die any time during our practice session...

Two different amps at the same price: TC100 vs Mark VII

I recently looked at the prices on the Mesa website. Now there seems to be a difference between them. I would assume it may have been during the transition of new transformers or whatever the issue was that resulted in the TC100 having the same cost as the Mark VII. Now the TC100 is $500 less.

Question: Does your Mark VII do this?

Yes, I get that with both of mine. I believe it is due to the bypassing of the overdrive stage since it only uses the booster stage which is similar to the original IIB. No compression so the booster stage will pump it up. Not sure if there are any changes to the first gain stage so that can...

How long will it take for Mesa to come out with the VII:25 and VII:35? How about a JP2C combo?

If they added pull pots to switch between clean and fat, it would be similar to the normal/bold pull pot on the Mark IV? (been a long time since I had that amp). That way the clean, crunch and VII modes can be associated with one channel. IIB, IIC and IV for the other channel. This was just...

Mark VII - dang double gang - messed up FX levels

That was not me. I never shipped any Mark VII's back as both are keepers. I do recall someone having the volume issue and they returned it to SW only to have someone else buy it as a demo unit at a reduced cost who is also a member here. .

Dual rec multi watt volume issue

You are probably right, dirty pot or perhaps worn out. Hope you get that issue resolved. If you are going to open up the chassis, check the wires on the pot and where they are soldered to the board. It could be a bad solder joint too and the pot is just fine. Should not be all that...

How long will it take for Mesa to come out with the VII:25 and VII:35? How about a JP2C combo?

I would be curious to hear it as a combo. So the JP2C combo wins over the mini Mark VII. That was easy, they already have the JP2C chassis and the combo shell for the Mark VII. I assume the Mark V models are here to stay for a while longer. Once they make an EL34 lunch box version of the...

Dual rec multi watt volume issue

I have not had any issues with mine. Bought it in 2018. OK, lets start with the rear panel. Set the Assign control to loop bypass. This will disable the FX loop (including the global volume and solo boost controls). Before you power it up, dial back on each of the channel masters the amp...

Mark VII - dang double gang - messed up FX levels

You are using the word gain incorrectly as most people do. Many think that distortion means high gain, it does not. Gain is an increase in something. Your guitar signal for instance, typically at around 640mV peak to peak that gest increased between each gain stage. If it did not, there would...

Mark VII - dang double gang - messed up FX levels

There is reason why this volume difference occurs. For one, say the Mark V90, Ch1 is specifically all clean (with a bit of crunch on tweed). CH2 is a bit more Mark I voiced with a brighter approach using the crunch mode and the CH3 is all out distortion. Mark VII on the other hand is not...

    Mark VII - EVM-12L??

Why not just leave the c90 in the amp. I personally would be looking at an external cab to go with it. A friend recently got one of the Theile cabs that has the C90 in it, and thus far he has been floored with its performance compared to a C90 in just an open back cabinet (similar to the...

    Limited Edition JP~2C 1x12 Combo!!!

Too bad the JP2C combo is classified as a limited run. I sort of figured this was a possible combination after I got my hands on a Mark VII and compared it to the JP2C. Since there is a combo Mark VII, why not a JP2C version. I posted this in December of last year. Mostly on the Mark VII...

Mark V 90W combo speaker change

I get so hooked when I have the RA100's out. I easily lose track of time after firing up the heaters. As of late, I have two BAD100 and Mark VII out in the studio. I still favor the RA100's (head and combo). I find the RA mojo to be most addictive. Still the BAD or the Mark VII seems to...

NGD: Charvel Pro-Mod MJ San Dimas style 1, FR HSH 24

Considering I have three of the DK24 FR guitars, one of Alder, one of Okoume, and the other is Mahogany (dark amber). As for the MJ HSH setup, I get that, what is the middle pickup doing? That model always runs a pair of coils. Not sure what is pos 1 in reference to the bridge, I will...

Mark V Design Defect - Channel Switching Noise

With the Mark V90 and its many different power amp configurations from pentode/triode on CH3, tube tracking/silicon diode at 45W for CH1 and CH2 (has no effect on CH3) and then for the 10W class A power mode, it runs the rectifier tube. Not sure if the CH3 is set to triode for that but I think...

    Limited Edition JP~2C 1x12 Combo!!!

It was not my intention to stir the pot with the EV speaker opinion. In all fairness, best to hear what this amp sounds like as is and make a decision from that. I do know what the JP2C sounds like through a pair of V30s as well as the EVM12L Black Label and Classic. Just...

NAD: Mesa Boogie Mark VII head. WOW

Since I have two of these, I compared on with the STR447 EL34 and the other with the stock STR445 6L6 tubes. I was surprised how the two Mark VII compared with the different power tubes. The STR445 tubes have a slight 6CA7 voice to them, that being based on Mesa's description along with the JJ...

    Limited Edition JP~2C 1x12 Combo!!!

This is still a cool thing to see. After I got my first Mark VII head and compared it to the JP2C, thought that Mesa could possibly offer the JP2C as a combo as well since the chassis is basically the same. Takes me back to the good old days seeing they managed to do this. I see it is roughly...

    Limited Edition JP~2C 1x12 Combo!!!

I won't disagree with anyone who has preference for the C90. I personally do not have much luck with them. I have had really good results with the EVM12L Classic (currently made in Mexico). That speaker is much closer to the EVM12L Black Shadow that was a stock speaker in a 1988/1989 Simul...

    Limited Edition JP~2C 1x12 Combo!!!

If you run two of the 112 boogie cabs, you would be ok for 100w power use. However, you would need to run at 4 ohms unless you get 16 ohm speakers installed in the small cabinets. I will have to watch the video to see what is up.
