yea my mistake about the classified mis posting! Sorry wont happen again. I think its the JJ tubes. Tube Depot sold me a Roadking package and this is what happened. it did blow up two weeks ago and the guy just got it on his table, called my music store owner pal who called me for the go...

Ok here is what happened... I was reading a post here about SPAX7 pre amp tubes and I decide to add more SPAX7's to my already SPAX7 heavy pre amp tube cocktail. So the list is Spax7 V1, penta lab V2, Spax 7 V3, Spax 7 V4 and Spax 7 V5.... I then replace my Mesa output tubes and rectifier tubes...

tried both.... new and old. No more popping as I took out both SPAX7's... replaced both preamps with the old 12AX7's (mesa) and put the old output tube set back in. The popping lasted for about 10 seconds until I turned it off, then turned back on (popping came back) turned it off and replaced...

is it sold?

ROADKING HEAD... REPLACING V4 AND V5 (MESA 12AX7'S) WITH MESA SPAX7'S I was putting in new SPAX 7's to v4 and V5 each.... Then I put in matched sets of JJ's EL34's and 6L6's also a set of 5U4GB JJ rectifiers...basic tube swap out. then all hell breaks loose after I turn it on... I hear POP...

now i would like to see the SPAX7 discussed like this in the rectifier or tube sections... I have been trying to start a preamp tube discussion started for about a year now but this thread was very reassuring that I did the right thing in replacing all my preamp tubes with SPAX7's in my Roadking...
