I guess it was a few years now. It was the GC on West Broad St. next to the Sam Ash. +1 on Richmond Music. I bought my first amplifier from them. :)

Ideas? I played an F-100 in a GC in Richmond, VA that sounded like a bunch of bees fighting in a tin can. Yet, when I play my F-100 combo at home, I get great tones. Perhaps the difference is in upkeep? :) The amp has probably been abused/neglected as are most floor models.

You have to use the same tank as what it came with. Order it directly from Accutronics like I did for my Rivera R55-12 and it will be about $25 + shipping and take a week. If you don't think the tank model is the same as the original, Mesa should be able to help like they did on my F-100, so...

+1, I think of the F-series as a bit of a hybrid of the Mark and Recto. Regular channel 2 has a very mark-influenced fat solo sound and with an EQ in the loop can get just as nasty. The raw feel and slightly scooped mids of Contour bring out the Recto aggression, but it never sounds as fizzy.
