I just recently got a 5:50 head and am running it through a 212 Rectifier cab with V30's that I used to use on my TOV. Maybe I'm just used to the sound, but I like the 5:50 through it! A lot may have to do with the cabinet of the 212 being big, heavy and tuned to the speakers. It just doesn't...

Don't know if they make 'em (check with Gator), but since it is so small, I would just go to a local shipper and have a tough plywood box made, maybe some metal brackets on the corners and a metal handle...w/ 1" rigid Styrofoam lining the inside.

If you have speakon connections on your amp and cabs, use them. Older amps don't have them. They say you get better contact with speakons, but I can't really tell the difference. But speakons won't pull out when someone catches a cord. I use some older amps with some newer cabs and get...

Well, I have finally decided to pull the trigger on a 400+. The serial number is: b4380. Does that mean it is the 4,380th head built? Can anyone ballpark a year on this? thanks

I got one of his 4 button switches for my TOV. A little pricey, but I like having everything in one switch (channel, reverb, trem and effects loop). I'm not much for DIY stuff...ends up costing me more than just having someone do it right the first time. :oops: If the price is OK for you...

As you can see by my sig...IMHO go with the head and cab. Get a 212, maybe some day you'll add to it. Easier to carry around peices. Both are LOUD. Head and cab keeps your options open for the future.

Hmmm, guess I will finally have to try EL34's in the TOV on the next retube... that and a new set of fingers and I can sound like Andy! :mrgreen: :roll: :wink:
