    Deal breaker?

Can I just ask a practical question of you silverWulff - why have you owned over 60 Mesa amps? I would think that you got close to what you were looking for after the first 30 or so... but that is me.

    Deal breaker?

I am not a shred head - but I can tell you the obvious -- that the 2c+ is much tighter rhythm sound - and the mk4 is a much better "singing" lead tone on the Mk5. So switching between the 2 live in a band situation would probably be what many "metal" or hard rock players would like - however...

    Marshall sounding pedal

Carl Martin Plexi-Tone is 100% pure Marshall guava in every flavor. Seriously worth checking out.

What do you want in the clips?

Side by side comparison of the Mark V and the Mark IV. Not that I would care too much - but there are enough people wailing on about the differences between the amps - it would be nice to hear someone who is qualified in Mark amp history and knowledge give a good run through. All channels BTW...

    Very special Channel 3 Settings

What about channel 1 & 2? Particularly interested in his channel 2... there is a lot of range in that one.

    Mark V for sale!

That is a smoking deal! Should be sold by the end of the day for sure.

    Help with mark V

First off - What kind of music do you play? What exactly are you going for? What guitars/pu's do you play? A lot of people could help you out if you started off with that. in fact it should be a rule that anyone asking for help on getting sound issues should preface their posts with that...

    New amp day!

First - I would wait until the speakers are broken in before changing anything. For me this is like 40 hours or so of playing. I think I am probably halfway there. The speakers are new and a bit stiff. they will totally sink in and loosen up after cranking the amp for a few weeks. That'll change...

    New amp day!

Why are people so worried about the Mark V being hard to dial in? Why would anyone need with this amp? It is probably one of the easier amps to dial in and get great sounds out of mainly due to the new layout. And the manual rocks. For once a great manual. If you are trying to match some other...

Questioon on Mark V lead tone.

I think you will be surprised at the Mark V's versatility. It sounds to me like you will really like the Mark 1 settings in channel 2. It is very smooth and has lots of midrange with a very full sound and as much gain on tap as channel 3 has (taken right out of the manual). There is nothing...

    New amp day!

    In what way? Smoother?

    oh the agony...

I think your review of the Axe FX is spot on. I had it for months and never could get the tone to be as good as my amps. And I tweaked man. Used to sit in a rehearsal room and AB it at concert level with my miced amps though PA speakers and everything. I gave that thing many chances in every...

    Horrible News!

Why would you be interested in buying an amp that you assume is not good for the type of music you play? You should be excited that the Mark IV's that everyone creams over are popping up all over craigslist at very good prices. I'm not a metal player - but I'm pretty sure the Mark V amp can...

No MIDI Channels switching on Mark V????

When yer right yer right. I was being gentle. Not a value judgement on the amp - just an economic flub on my part.

No MIDI Channels switching on Mark V????

It seems that some here are under the misconception that internal midi switching is expensive, or unnecessary, or not in "spirit" with the original design or whatever... And I beg to differ. First off - it is not expensive. It is cheap. That is why many amps and pedals and keyboards and rack...

    mark v manual ?

I think the reason people haven't posted the manual on line who already have the amp is because it is 60 pages. Even leaving out the obvious stuff would be like an hour and a half of scanning things in and cleaning up and making a pdf. Mesa should have a pdf up by now. There is a great bunch of...

Mark V good for Classic Rock?

I do not think this amp is hard to dial in at all. Maybe other version of this series were - but this is a new amp. It is a new version. And it is pretty easy to dial in whatever sounds you are looking for - particularly after going thorough the very well written manual.

Mark V good for Classic Rock?

I think the V can do just what you want. You'll have to judge for yourself when u get your hands on one - but for me - this amp is the best all around bang for the buck that I have played in a LONG time. It is only geared towards metal if you set it up that way. And that is just using the stock...

No MIDI Channels switching on Mark V????

I just ordered the Mini Amp Gizmo which ships this week from RJM ($259) and they are working on the Mark 5 cable for it which will be ready after they receive their Mark 5 in the shop. So problem solved thanks to all of you here on the board.
