    Mesa Dual Recto sounds weak

You're not dialing it in right. I had a similar experience when I first got my Recto. I was rehearsing for a gig alongside a friend with a 5150 II and a pretty agressive tone. This was a death metal gig. I was embarrassed at first because I hadn't yet learned what the amp could do at gigging...

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

When I get some time I'm going to start making up some blanks and when they are available I will post here as well as on my website.

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

Sure, I could do most colors. If you could give me a picture, I could try to get the stain as close as possible.

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

I pulled out the chassis, which is pretty straightforward, and the placed the shell face down on a soft surface, placed a wood block against the small exposed edge of the diamond plate (which appears once you pull out the chassis), and with a few hits with a mallet it popped right off. It's just...

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

I haven't really done a great deal of comparison. I've had a V30 cab and a T75 cab, and the Peavey cab with the stock Sheffields. The T75 / V30 combo is what I've liked the best and it works so I haven't tried to improve on it. I don't like a lot of high end in my tone, I usually try to zap the...

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

I'm actually using a Peavey 5150 cab, but with two Celestion T75s and two Vintage 30s.

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

Thanks. I did remove the diamond plate first, and adhered the maple to the wood panel underneath.

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

Thanks. I was actually thinking of offering the custom panels for sale on my website for around $100.

Took it a step further and stained it black and sprayed some lacquer:

Finally got around to doing this. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

I have 4 guitars to make! I have a freaking waiting list already. So yeah, you're right, I do not have time to do this. Nor do I have time to post on forums. :D I just got it. It smokes my other heads by an incredible margin. I'm a Boogie convert big time. Perhaps the diamond plate...

Cellardweller....you have no idea what you're talking about. Metalhead28 confirms this.

most effective way to tighten a recto?

Just curious, I hadn't seen it mentioned. Are you using the "modern" channel setting with the power setting on "bold" and the diode rectifier? My DR on these settings with the gain at around noon is extremely tight, even without an OD pedal. Also, I run it at 50 watts so I can crank things up...

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

Thanks. I'm hesitant to start pulling the amp apart just yet, I have to use if for a gig in about 2 weeks. If I knew what was going to be invloved in removing that board - I might be a little quicker to try and tackle it.

Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

I have a Dual Rectifier, and being an avid woodworker, I've been thinking about trying to replace the diamond plate panel with some nice figured wood. I've read a few threads about removing the diamond plate - but I haven't seen anyone discuss removing the entire wood panel from the front of the...
