My RG7420BP right now is set-up in a way I don't normally use it has D'Addario 9-54 in Bb, because I didn't have time to make a balanced set and I needed a guitar in Bb. My RG2228 however is set-up the way I like, with progressive tension 8 10.5 14 19w 28w 38w 52w 68w, feels awesome.

You didn't say 12ax7s, you said pre-amp tubes. So, in that case, yes, they're wrong.

There are only 6 pre-amp tubes. The 7th 12ax7 isn't a part of the pre-amp, it's the phase inverter. So, it's not wrong.

There is a slight fade in when going to the distortion channel, but no delay, as in a moment of no sound before the channel kicks in. So, wow, I have a fairly early recto. Oh, I forgot to mention, the SR came with a head case, all for $400.
