    Mark IV versions?

^If it has 4 FX loop jacks its an A. Also an A would not have a reverb footswitch jack or Satellite send jack.

    Amp mods

I'd never mod my IV. It sounds perfect as it is anyway :D

    DiMarzio+Ibanez

 I know the feeling. I usually resort to the Seymour Duncan site and a colour code conversion chart. 95% of the time it has what I need :D

Here you go, from the Dimarzio site. http://www.dimarzio.com//media/diagrams/C.pdf If the active coil is wrong, either you will get hum, in which case you need to switch some wires (white as hot, red+green as series link and black as the ground) or it won't be humming, in which case you just...

    KT66 with Mark III

How about in a Mark IV? I know they probably won't bias right in the outer sockets, but how about the inner sockets?

New Tung Sol RI's in my Mark IV today

+1 I've got 3 NOS RCA 12AX7's and 2 NOS Motorola (Rebranded GE's AFAIK) in my Mark IV, and it sounds far better than it did with all JJ's. You can get them cheap quite regularly on eBay, even if they aren't that great, most will still be better than modern production tubes.

    Mark IV crackling noise

I had a similar crackling with my Mark IV, it would come and go quite often. It was a preamp tube, I had JJ's in there, and I was going to replace them, so I got some NOS RCA's from ebay. After I replaced them the crackling was gone completely (and the whole amp sounded much better too!) I'd do...

    Gibson Explorer users

Gibsons come with 300k pots from the factory. 500k pots should help reduce some muddiness, and make it slightly brighter.

You only need a Super switch if you have a single coil sized humbucker in the middle, and want to split it in positions 2 and 4. With a regular single coil, a standard 5-way will work with the auto-split in positions 2 and 4. And I think the Fred/Single/PAF PRO would be a good combo too.

    DiMarzio+Ibanez

It was a maple neck/rosewood fretboard. The Area pickups are stacked humbuckers (2 coils, one on top of the other), they sound more like a true single coil than a rail humbucker, but they're not all the way there. If you use a superswitch you can wire it so you will still get hum-cancelling...

    DiMarzio+Ibanez

I prefer the PAF Joe in the neck, the PAF Pro was a little muddy for me (this is in a mahogany S, it might be different in an RG), and I'd probably go for a D-Sonic if you want clarity on the bridge pickup, ToneZone's can get a little muddy. If you aren't using heaps of gain the ToneZone would...

Anyone know the answer to my questions

Thats because it doesn't use the PI in Class A, because its running single ended, not push/pull.

(Mark IV) G-major in effecs loop. ?? Help!

I keep the loop on all the time, because with my MIDI controller, it defaults to the number 1 patch when you press a preset button a second time (I'm using an Axess MFC5) so I set up the default patch to have no effects on the G-Major. Even so, when I bypass the loop the level is still the same...

    Post removed.

Tuner holes going through a joint won't cause any issues. The 3 piece neck is going to be more stable than a 1 piece (less likely to twist, not that 1 piece necks are bad) The glue joint will actually be stronger than the wood around it.

(Mark IV) G-major in effecs loop. ?? Help!

Ok, thats a bit strange. Check the Input Range in the I/O section, it will be set to either Consumer or Pro (-10dB or +4dB) Swap it and see if that helps.

(Mark IV) G-major in effecs loop. ?? Help!

I've got a G-Major in the loop of my Mark IV and I've never had any problems with volume drop? Make sure the output of the G-Major is set to 0dB (the Levels All button just next to the display) Where have you got the input and output pots set? I have the input around 10 o'clock (otherwise there...

Mark IV - volume loss without GEQ

Well it is the way I have it set, and anywhere else and it doesn't sound right. Either way it doesn't really matter, I use a Tubescreamer for a solo boost anyway, so keeping the EQ in all the time doesn't make any difference to me.

Mark IV - volume loss without GEQ

I though that might be it, but there is a very big difference, the boost is so big its not possible to use it as a solo boost, because it adds so much volume. Oh well, I'm happy to keep using the EQ all the time anyway :D
