Dilema: Refret Jackson SL2H or sell for Chapman Ghost Fret

Yeah, probably best to get it refreshed and just save up for a Chapman. Been playing the Jackson for the past few hours and it just rocks. Such amazing tone, sustain, fluidity, and speed.

Dilema: Refret Jackson SL2H or sell for Chapman Ghost Fret

Yes, it is a USA Select SL2H in transparent blue. Going to call around a few shops and see what a repair or total refret would cost. Since it's a bound ebony fretboard, I am thinking it will be a little more pricey ($300-ish?) than a non-bound one. Still, that Ghost Fret really looks like a...

Dilema: Refret Jackson SL2H or sell for Chapman Ghost Fret

So I have a Jackson SL2H that I got new back in the early 2000s for a nice price from GC because the fret ends had lifted a bit. The guitar plays fine, stays in tune, and the intonation / action are all fine too considering. If I pull a high string off the edge, near the head stock or the...

Cabinet - speaker swap or replace?

So I have a Peavey 4x12 with Sheffield 1290s. I mostly use it for my Peavey Valveking II 20 watt head and my Jet City 20 Watt head. It's in pretty good cosmetic condition but the speakers just suck, sterile and "ice picky" sounding. I am thinking of either pulling them and putting in some...

    Mark 3C+ ?

Yes, there is a III+ mod, here are some links to threads about it. You can call Mesa and give them your serial number to check to see what services/mods have been performed. http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=27879 http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=69223

    Mark III replacement power cord

I would think that would be fine. I've used those plenty of times on extension cords without issue.

    Peavey Valveking II 20

Thanks for the info on the clipping. It's definitely not harsh or unmusical, very much like stepping on a tube screamer with the level cranked and the "drive" off. The one thing that I have noticed is if you use a lot of reverb (6-7 or higher), you really start to notice it's digital nature...

    Footswitch for Mark III

I have the one on the right with my Mark III and it works great.

    The Great FX Loop Debate

I have always put time / modulation / verb fx in the loop; overdrive, wah, phase, and compression in the front. With my Mark III, I just have a Lexicon MX200 in the loop and it sounds great. Got it for $80 on eBay and it covers all the bases I need. Highly recommended little fx unit, easy to use...

Mesa boogie mark III (blue stripe) dirty rhythm settings?

You're probably going to have better luck getting that sound on the R1 rhythm channel than R2 or Lead.

    Peavey Valveking II 20

So I've had a bit of GAS lately and I ended scoring a 20 watt VKII on eBay for a nice price. Pretty neat little head with a lot of useful features. It has direct recording via XLR or USB with cab sim and is also switchable between 20, 5, and 1 watt modes. The clean channel is quite nice, very...

Cool video and an awesome song!

    Tube Brands

My Mark III has JJ 12Ax7s in V1 and V5 and it sounds great to me. With preamp tubes, you are pretty free to experiment with whatever types of tubes you like.

Recommendations for effects units for Mark III

Cool, thanks for the recommendation. I am pretty much just a home player so I think it will work fine as is. You are right about routing 2 as well, that's the one to use for guitar.

Recommendations for effects units for Mark III

Came across a great deal on a Lexicon MX200 so I figured I would give it a shot. Just got it today and have had a few minutes to mess around with it. It sounds awesome just with the factory settings and it is quite easy and intuitive to use so far. I am definitely going to enjoy getting to...

Recommendations for effects units for Mark III

Thanks for the recommendations, definitely going to do the reverb mod. Will check out the lexicon too. Will look into the Eventide H9 as well.

Recommendations for effects units for Mark III

I recently picked up a nice condition Quadraverb Plus on the cheap and I have been trying it out with my Mark III. I have NO idea how to program it so I have just been using the factory presets. They don't sound bad, but trying to edit or change them is definitely not intuitive. Didn't...

Picked up a 1981 Mark IIB Combo

Nice score! The Marks are such incredible amps. There is a fully loaded Mark II on the local CL in what looks like decent condition. Not sure if it's A, B, or C though. If I had any funds, I would grab it in a heartbeat.

And justice for all - mark III

Sounds great! I wish I had more time to get some tracks up, just not enough hours in the day sometimes.

    Cab for mark III

I have a Carvin 4x12 straight cab loaded with Vintage 30s paired with my Mark III and it sounds great. I can't really crank it, at least not when anyone is home, but it still sounds really good even at lower levels.
