Is there any rhyme or reason for the Serial Numbering?

Is there a schema that Mesa uses when serializing their amps.. I've seen posts here that seem to show that, for example a Recto with a R 033333 - it is the 33,333rd Rectifier made? How can you determine build date from the serial number? THanks.

    Rocking In Raw

I love the Raw mode on chan 2 and chan 3 of my Dual Recto. I must also share how much I love the 'pushed' mode on the clean channel - like a very touch sensitive version of the Raw mode, dare I say it - but it does sound very 'Mark-esque' to me.

Is a Triple Rec too powerful for some people? Or.....

What I mean is, I feel the Dual is a better balance between the raucous, saturated sound of a single recto and the complete 'openness' or 'space' of a triple recto. I prefer the dual, simply 'cuz while I have some of the headroom of a high-wattage amp, I still have some saturation coming from...

50 watt vs. 100 watt volume difference

I really think, if you're just deciding between a 100W vs. 50W is to play identical amps (like for example, try to play a single recto side by side with a dual recto) in 100W and 50W configurations. I really don't feel that 100W is 'better' than 50 W, I think it comes down to personal...

Sound Comparisons Dual and Triple Recs 3 channel versions

To tell you the truth, there might be something wrong with my ears. Sometimes I can pinpoint it when just playing the amp in my room by myself, sometimes when I crank it at band practice I don't hear it at all. I think the buzz is only really apparent at bedroom volumes, but then again any amp...

Is a Triple Rec too powerful for some people? Or.....

One of my good friends has a Triple Recto and he uses it at home in addition to his band. Honestly, the only way you would know is to play and compare both. The triple wouldn't be louder than the dual, however the extra 2 glass bottles would affect the feel of the amp. It's entirely your...

    Good Noise gate - ?

Thanks guys. Turmoil, how did you get that cool blue effect in your recto?

Sound Comparisons Dual and Triple Recs 3 channel versions

The 3-channels do not sound bad at all. They sound very very very good. Some say, the 3-channels have that "buzz" over the sound, especially in 'Modern' mode, vs. the 2-channel, which supposedly have a more organic sound. Honestly, I've heard both, and while the 3-chan does sound a little...

50 watt vs. 100 watt volume difference

Based on my experience with both 50 Watt and 100 Watt amps in a band setting, there is no difference in volume, as in sound level between the two. However, I very much prefer 100 Watt vs 50 Watt, simply because I noticed I 'cut through' more, and my distortion sounded 'cleaner' and much more...

    Good Noise gate - ?

Thanks. Ironically, I only learned about the ISP just now while searching for noise gates on eBay.

    Good Noise gate - ?

Hey. As you guys may know, I am LOVING my Dual Rectifier. :) However, right now I'm using my Pod XT in the effects loop simply because I haven't found an good noise gate that could completely silence the guitar in between playing. Here's the thing, I'm using a pedalboard setup, rather than a...

    Who gigs with a 2x12?

Mine sounds great on the floor. I find that whenever I stack an amp - the treble cuts too much.

    Customizing our amps?

Nice F-series, Hal! How did you manage to get all the parts you needed?

    Who gigs with a 2x12?

The 2x12" should be perfect. 2 Speakers to move a significant amount of air, while being just compact enough to fit in the backseat of a Mustang. :)

Sound Comparisons Dual and Triple Recs 3 channel versions

Honestly, I liked the tone of the 3-channel DR I tried at guitar center. In fact, that was the tone that made me decide to get one. When I got mine off eBay, it actually sounded ALOT better than I expected. Maybe because I did my first soundtest with the amp at band practice and was able to...

    Express 5:50 Clips?

Wow alot heavier than I expected. Nice. 8) Sounds very F-series, which in turn, sounded a like a less-complex 'Mark'.

    Another RK/Mark IV Question...

If you're happy, great. I think that's really all that matters. Honestly, though, if your road king looked nearly as good as you described it, it would be one of those "non-replaceable" toys for me. As in, I'd find a way to keep both. :) Either way, as long as you're happy.

    Customizing our amps?

Hey. I was playing my Dual Recto tonight and staring at it, I kinda wondered if there were any customizations out there we could do to these amps. I dont know, logos, new treadplate, etc. I think I might change the jewel light first. :)

    Who gigs with a 2x12?

I just started practicing with one ( a Recto Traditional 2z12 cab) and it sounds great. I'm actually in a rage against the machine tribute band, and kinda like the sound I'm getting. The bass response is so good, I'm thinking about keeping this instead of getting a 4x12.

O YES! I JUST GOT MY DUAL RECTO.

Any tips from any other fellow recto owners?
