Silent practicing - with a Dual Recto?

Thanks. I'll try that, I set the the rotary switch for the efx loop to 'on' and then what do I send the send and return knobs to? Also, do I plug anything into the send/return jacks? Any ideas for a completely silent setup? Maybe through headphones or a mixer?

Silent practicing - with a Dual Recto?

Hey guys. I was thinking today when I had my F-50 before the Dual Recto, I would actually use the recording/headphone out ALOT. While it didn't sound exactly like a speaker, it sounded really good for recording and practicing purposes. It was also perfect, as living in an apt, the 'silent'...

Welcome! Mesa's are truly special amps.

    Customizing our amps?

That's really cool, man. How did you get the treadplate off to paint it?

    ohms?

While I've heard and read in the manual that plugging in the amp's impedance output of lets say 8 ohms into a cab w/ an impedance of 16 Ohms is a safe mismatch (as the cab is able to handle the amp's 8 ohm output), I've heard the tone suffers a little bit when doing mismatches, and for optimum...

    dual rec quesiton

I noticed that too - however on my used Dual Recto. Not that the pots are scratchy, or they are insecure when they turn, but its like the pot is screwed in 'shifted', and instead of turning straight left and right, the knobs kind of travel 'up' when they are turned. Every pot on the amp does...

    Explain (Clean boost) To me...?

I always thought a clean boost is actually for gain purposes? Not for 'boosting' the clean channel volume level. I dont know, I thought a clean boost was just meant to overpower the Preamp section, effectively increasing and smoothing out the gain for an overall more authoritive and clearer...

Buying my first Mesa Boogie Rectifier

Honestly, the cleans on the Roadster/RK are better than the Solo heads, but that's not to say the cleans on the solo heads suck. They're actually pretty decent. I use mine with a couple clean passages, throw in a reverb and/or light delay to smooth out the tone and use the neck pickup w. a...

    Help Me!!!!

the rectos have a very pronounced bottom end, i think thats part of the signature rectifier 'chugga chugga' sound. the dual recto w/ my recto 2x12 cab has this, i quite like it. i think what youre describing is a very pronounced woofy response, am i right? i'd def check out the power tubes...

hum on channel 3 of my dual rec....help???

I found I had the same problem with the NF-2, it doesen't seem to 'gate' the noise, rather it tries to supress it. However, I found with these amps that the boss' noise supression hardly works. I've heard good things about the ISP decimator pedal. I'll probably pick one up soon.

    Rectifier in the Express amps

I think it uses solid-state rectos a la the F-50's did.

Took back the Express 5:50 and got the F-50

which one do you think sounded heavier distortion-wise, the F-50 or the Express?

F-50 vs POD-XT vs Mark IV

Great sound man. One of my biggest gripes with the Line6 Modeling stuff (I've had a Pod since the beginning, v1.0) was that while it was so easy to setup a sound and record, I felt like I was playing a recording all the time, rather than playing a living breathing guitar amplifier. The same...

Ordering an Express tommorrow (please cross your fingers)

Great man. I hope you get it. Nothing is like a Mesa/Boogie.

50 watt vs. 100 watt volume difference

I completely agree. Bringing my F-50 (before i returned it) to band practice, decible-wise it was loud, but my sound felt and sounded 'small', restricted. When I brought the Dual Recto, complete night and day. I will not play out band without this amp. The feel and sound is just what i wanted...

Express combos - welcome to rip-off Britain once again...

I really dont think it cost Mesa $200 to make the amp. Theyre very stringent about dealer prices here.

Is a Triple Rec too powerful for some people? Or.....

I mean, either way, you'll be happy. Really. I personally prefer my Dual Recto. I've played my friend's triple plenty of times and to me the Dual recto just had that common ground between sag/saturation/power clipping and headroom/space/feel of a high wattage head. The triple is a great amp...

Looking to buy my first Mesa Boogie

Yeah, I was about to recommend the stiletto. Marshall-like tone, with M/B building, reliability, and voicing.

Sell my recto v2 for a Roadster help?

It all depends. The dual recto set with the tube recto has just enough sag for me, but still tight enough to not sound like complete mud when playing heavy stuff. My best advice would be to try it out first and see if thats the sound youre after. Also don't be afraid to try a stiletto - those...
