    Royal Atlantic has docked

I own an XTC 101B and think the RA's blue channel sounds like what the XTC's blue channel wished it sounded like. I also played the XTC Classic several times before (which I prefer in every way to the 101B I own) and think RA's blue channel is also significantly better than the XTC Classic's...

    Medium Gain

I recommend the Badcat BC-50. Also from the clips I heard the Vox NT-50 might work well for your needs.

    Played a IIc+ today

I find the IIC+ and IV mode better for playing leads than the extreme mode, but prefer extreme for rhythm and riffing. I also agree that IIC+ sounds better than extreme when playing with a band and I also find the IIC+ mode to be more crunchy than extreme which I like. I actually though use...

    Mark IV vs Mark III

I know there have already been a lot of threads comparing these two amps, but I have a few specific questions of how they compare. First, how do the R2 channels compare, paritcularly to the green and blue stripe mark iii's. I currently own a green stripe mark iii and never tried a blue stripe...

Mark V owners who also own a Marshall JVM...

When I think of growl the first thing that comes to my mind is the sound of a triple rectifier played very loud, which is kind of the opposite of a honky sound.

I put a Koko boost in front of my 5:50

I disagree that the pedal doesn't affect the tone. I find that whether I use the clean boost side or mid boost with my mark iii and v my tone become smoother, more polished, less edgy, and and slightly congested which I don't like. I like the pick attack, endless sustain, and incredible pinch...

Mark V owners who also own a Marshall JVM...

Will EL-34's get rid of the congested and honky sound of channel three or would that problem be solved with the preamp tubes? Also will EL-34's make the amp sound smoother in any way(particularly the treble notes) because that is the last thing I'd want.

What brand of EL-34's did you use? I also wanna put EL-34's and new preamp tubes (since I heard that that is what is giving me that slightly congested midrangy sound) in my mark v, but don't know what brands to use.

    Digitech Whammy question

I recently got this pedal and didn't like the way it colored my sound when running it through the fx loop of my mark v. I tried to hook it up to the front of the amp, but couldn't figure how. Does anyone know how to properly hook it up to the front of the amp? I'm I complete noob when it...

    Lundgren M6

Have any of you guys tried this pick-up? The clips I've heard of it all sounded amazing and had that high mid grind I like and sounded brittle in a great way. I'm considering putting a lundgren in one of my guitars, but wanna know more about this pick up before doing so. How does it compare...

    Blue Stripe?

MrMarkIII, I found your last post to be extremely helpful. But some people also say that the mark iii green stripe is similar to the mark iv. I played the mark iv several times and to me they sound nothing alike. The IV sounded much smoother, less biting, less aggressive, less raw, and more...

    Blue Stripe?

My mark iii has 4 power tubes, so I guess it's probably 100 watts. But again do the green and blue stripes sound that different? Hopefully, someone on this forum has played both. I heard the blue is the most aggressive sounding one, but my mark iii, which seems more likely to be green, is...

    Blue Stripe?

I'm actually not 100% sure my mark iii is 60 watts. I bought the amp used at my local guitar center and it said on their website that it is a blue stripe and 60 watts. I'll check later if it says anywhere on my amp wether it's 60 watts or not. Also my amp does have simul class. Do the blue...

    Blue Stripe?

Today I just got a 60 Watt Mark III Blue Stripe and it sounds phenomenal. This is possibly the most underrated amp ever. The stripe on the back looks bluish, but I wanted to make sure it actually is a blue stripe. The serial number on the back is 24954. Is it actually a blue stripe?

    mark v preamp

Today I successfully ran the mark v's preamp into the xtc's power amp and when I plugged my guitar into the mark v and played a few riffs it sounded like a combination between the two amps, but sounded a lot more like an xtc than a mark v. I messed around with the level control on the fx loop...

    mark v preamp

You may have just solved my problem because I had it on parallel. Thanks. Also, when I do this should both amps be turned on and not on standby?

    mark v preamp

So, today I turned the mark v on, connected a cable from the send of the mark v to the return of my Bogner XTC 101B, turned the XTC on, made sure the fx loops on both amps were active, plugged my guitar into the XTC, and pressed the fx loop button on on the footswitch and played a few riffs and...

    Dual vs Triple

Would the sound differences between a dual and triple rectifier be similar to the sound differences when I switch from 90 watts to 45 watts on my Mark V? Do the dual and triple really sound that different from each other? Also which of the two has more bottom end, the triple or the dual?

    mark v preamp

So to run the mark v preamp into another poweramp I need to put one end of the cable to the send in the mark v fx loop and the other to the return of the amp I want to use for the poweramp? Also, What do you mean by having a load on the speaker output?

    mark v preamp

Some people have have said they tried using the mark v's preamp with other power amps. I heard one guy on this forum say use the mark v preamp with a peavey 5150 power amp and thougth it sounded great. But how do you connect the mark v preamp to another poweramp? Does it involve using the...
