The Combo has the C90... my original C90 seemed to break in very nicely but it went bad after 5 weeks and Mesa replaced it... this C90 doesn't not seem to want to break in at all! It's very harsh an brittle and a loose in the lows. Probably have a good 50-60 hours on it now and sounds no... -

Why... does a head not use a speaker? :shock: LOL. Actually I can ( or i think I can ) hear a tonal difference in the 2 amps... the Combo sounds slightly better. -

sweeping generalizations
Well I'm one that had tube probs in my combo... oh and lettering probs, then the sound going out, then back to Mesa who couldn't find a prob... got it back... and it is definitely the speaker. Once they replace the speaker, it'll be good as gold. Despite PITA probs, it's an excellent sounding... -

Got mine back from Mesa who said... nothing is wrong. Played it for 2 mins just fine, then hit a G chord and nothing... no sound. The only thing not tested to any extent was the speaker... so I threw a v30 in the combo... haven't had a problem after several hours ... what are the odds a... -

effects loop affect tone?
Since my last post on this I had increased my channel masters all above 12:00 and it kept getting worse... then another post relating to the EL volume lower and distorted sounds made me go back and read the manual closer :shock: , I have all my channel masters between 9:30 and 12:00 now, the EL... -

Dude I can relate! My combo.. total loss of sound Fri night, replaced blown Recto tube Sat, lost sound again that night at first of gig, lost sound while on phone with Mesa on Monday, shipped the chassis back on Tues... they got it the NEXT Thur ( 9 F'n UPS days later), was supposed to have it... -

What a difference a speaker makes.....!
What speaker did you replace... C90 or V30? Scumbacks are great speakers! I put an Emi Tonker in my 112 Roadster cab replacing the V30 which is not broken in and though the Tonker is not my fav speaker, it greatly improved the tone. More balanced lows to highs, less harsh of course and... -

OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD
Your settings makes sense! That is a dark PU.. I have one in my TA DT Classic. I run a PEQ when I use the TA so I can have more balanced settings on the V when using single coils.
