OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

LESTERPAUL - that one really rocks! THANK YOU!!!

Mark V and TC Electronic G system

Jepp! It only takes to long imho to be usefull during one song. If you only use one channel per song the gsys does the switching good enough via two insert-cables (y-cable 1x stereo to 2x mono each).

Mark V and TC Electronic G system

Channel switching with the Gsys's relays doesn't work really good. I bought a RJM mini amp gizmo since it does the switching faster and without static noise.

Anybody using RJM Mini Amp Gizmo?

Nope! The RJM works as flawless as the MKV-footswitch does. The Mini Amp Gizmo even reduces some static noise from the relays (it seems to have a better and - maybe? - "not shared" ground...???) when you switch the EQ on/off in comparision to the Mesa footswitch. As I do not use the built in...

Anybody using RJM Mini Amp Gizmo?

I have one and it works great! No problems so far.

May sound silly but worth a try anyone consider...

Edge and MKI are very similar if you turn treble/middle/bass down and crank the channel master... Infact I could work with both modes footswitchable very well.

    6L6's vs EL34's

    Try Mesa's STR 447 - it's that easy!!!

I just started re-amping my band's songs with the Mark V

Hey Sary - check you message folder ;-) The 10w setting sounds quite direct and detailed and pronounces the pick-attack/overtones. I liked it better for recording... That recorded Einstein is still loaded with TAD EL34STRs, but nowadays Peter ships 'em with winged Cs 6550s... Yes they (EL34)...

Mark I mode... What the Hell is it for?

...and later flip the mode switch to EDGE and forget about MKI ;-)

Mark I mode... What the Hell is it for?

crank gain and channel volume and dial treble/middle/bass to minimum. set presence somewhere at around 9:00h and play your geetar... LOL!!!

Need a new guitar for new MARK V!

I'd think about PRS (Custom24/Standard24/CE24), Suhr (Standard/Modern) and MusicMan (JP6/JP7). Each of those should sound great with the MKV and is versatile enough for all its modes and sounds and should fit for your playing styles...

    6L6's vs EL34's

+2 Mesas STR 447 rule!!! ps: someone is selling his amp :-( http://www.petrucciforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67346

I just started re-amping my band's songs with the Mark V

Basically the same as I used on the other tracks: - recorded guitar with amp next to me (splitet signal to amp) - recording signal path: guitar to lehle sunday driver as linear preamp with 4 mega ohms input impedance to lehle p-split to amp and to the other output to recording interface...

I just started re-amping my band's songs with the Mark V

Right after we formed our band RETAIN in 2009 we recorded some songs in a friend's rehearsal room with a Diezel Einstein. During the last days I started to re-amp the guitar tracks with my Mark V and - so far - I am not really happy with the results. I seems the MKV does not have a good signal...

    Question on swapping out tubes

jepp - do it that way.
  16. N

VOX and Marshall lurking in channel 2?

MKV "Edge" seems to be similar to "Crunch" or "Tight" in a Stiletto Stage II - that is at least my impression. (plz check my last post in the MKV settings thread)

It pays to experiment - settings, tube config, and findings!

...whereas I use ch2 as a heavy "alternative-rock" Creed mets EVH meets Porcupine Tree meets... rhythm to lead sound. That explains the different aproach

What to do about BACKUP TUBES???

I'd buy: 3 to 7 Tung Sol 12AX7 Highgrade 1 or 2 JAN 5751 a quartett of SED "winged c" 6L6 a quartett of Mesa or JJ El34 and start some experiments. Actually the boogie tubes in the amp will (probably) be the spare tubes afterwards ;-)

It pays to experiment - settings, tube config, and findings!

Your channel 1 and 3 settings look similar to what I tweak them usually - the second channel differs a lot, so I will give your "crunch"-setting a try during the next rehearsal an monday ;-) Do you use it like ch1:"clean" ch2:"soft/warm lead" ch3:"heavy jp rhythm/lead" ???

    EVH sounds from MKV?

Wait for the Mark E V C+ revision H - it'll have an amazing engl powerball's to the wall early Edward van Halen brown sound in the lead channel...
