    Super frustrated!

OK maybe I better experiment a bit! I'll get my Vintage 30s out and see how they sound.

    Super frustrated!

I'm using a Marshall 2x12 cab with a pair of G12-75 (whatever the standard ones are). It seems clearer and brighter than when I had Vintage 30s in it. Less mids again.

    Super frustrated!

Thanks for the advice. I love the amp and I want to get that tone out front. I'll experiment with pushing up that mid slider and see what happens.

    Super frustrated!

Too much mid on stage sounds bad to me so I dial them back. A Mark v should be able to make my presence known!

    Super frustrated!

I love my Mk V but sometimes at gigs the sound man says " It sounds thin" or "it doesn't cut through". It always sounds great onstage but it drives me nuts to not be heard out front. I do dial out a lot of the mids though. Could that make it not cut through or is it just lame sound men...

Anyone here play a Hughes & Kettner Triamp?

Thanks alot BoogiePete. Does the Triamp have reverb though?

Anyone here play a Hughes & Kettner Triamp?

How does it compare soundwise with the Mark V? Apples & oranges?

Anyone here play a Hughes & Kettner Triamp?

I am curious if any of you experienced Boogiers have played this REAL expensive amp? The Tiamp MKII gets great reviews. I do love the Mark V though, especially at stage volume.

Any of you Mark V owners have a CARVIN Guitar?

I have a California Carved Top CT6T with the C22B bridge pup (around 12-13K) and a C22J neck pup which is a beautiful vintage type pup. Like a PAF. Anyways, it kills through the Mark V. The tone knob is a "pull pot" which splits the pup coils so you have those lower power, cleaner tones...

    This amp is a monster!

Doesn't the manual say " the most musical power amp section in the industry" or something? It is so true because you hear the thing come alive when you turn it up a bit.

Essential effects for the Mark V!

When you buy the EL34s make sure that the supplier knows it is for a Mark V so they can provide tubes with the correct operating range. If you get them from Mesa it won't be an issue. I ordered some from the Tubestore and they were knowledgable about the Mark V and sent the correct tubes...

    This amp is a monster!

No, I have done some indoor gigs. I expect this amp has the power to do outdoor gigs no problem. It comes alive when you start turning it up. I am only using a 2X12 cab now. I would love to try 4x12 !

    This amp is a monster!

The longer I play my Mark V the more I love it. I usually leave it set for my "live" gig settings but it is an amazing tone laboratory! You can dial in incredible low gain tones , and nasty disgusting tweed filth. What a great piece of gear.

Edge Mode Is Where It's At!!!!

I agree. Crunch just doesn't sound "right" to me. Mark 1 is a killer mode but I love Edge for a "cranked Super Reverb" type of tone. It is a great rhythm tone. That tone can be boosted into killer blues lead tone with a pedal on the front. I use the amazing boost that is built in to my...

    Amazing Mark V discovery!

After approx 6 months with this amp I finally bypassed the "loop/output circuit". The tone was absolutely stunning in all channels. I don't see giving up the loop and master volume for live playing but you MUST check this out. The tone is just killer. I must experiment to try and get...

Need to replace my Boss Delay and Chorus pedals

I use thje Nova Repeater in the loop (with a compressor pedal too) and it works great. The price on the Nova is really good for the quality. I have a Line 6 DM-4 in FRONT of the amp for a few sounds.

    Channel 2

I must admit that Crunch is one of my least fave modes on this amp (the other being Extreme). There is a mid sound in Crunch that i cannot get past. But maybe it needs to be louder. I have not used Crunch at stage volume.

Liking EL34s much more but what is best brand?

I guess I am going to have to experiment and try some SEDs. The Electro Harmonix will be great spares. It DOES sound killer with the EH though.

Looking for 10 watt, crunch mode power tube break up

Thanks MB Junkie. I was hoping the 10 watt mode could "overcome the drummer" as you say. Hahaha!! This is an amp that keeps on unfolding. Genius really.

Liking EL34s much more but what is best brand?

I put Electro Harmonix EL 34s in my amp and really prefer them. The clean ch. is excellent ( I see no loss at all) and the dirt sounds are richer (in my mind) but what is the best sounding type of EL 34s? Is there a "best"?
