Need a Couple of New Cabs-Suggestions

I need to pick up two new cabs and could use your suggestions. I currently have two Bogner 212's and they are great but need two additional for a different group for live use and in the studio. Sound would be standards, jazz fusion and some light overdriven rock. Venues would be medium with...

Tweed setting on the LSC simply awesome

Couldn't agree with both of you more. The tweed setting with rectifier engaged is wonderful on both channels. Even 1/64 of an inch turn on the LSC's controls make a difference in sound. I'm having more fun with the LSC than any amp I have ever owned. Another thing that I have noticed in...

    Occasional volume fade LSC

Try replacing/reseating your V3 preamp tube. Most of the little noise problems I've encountered have been tube related. V3 is your FX loop driver.

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

gfraso: I used my stock Bogner cabs both alone and together (split). They are loaded with well broken-in V30's. No need to experiment because this is what I use on stage, The Lonestar with effects provided by a Eventide H8000 and controller. For studio work set-up is different using Pro...

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

Well, four days ago I, along with my amp guy, did the mod. I played around with it for two days on various settings and yep Charles was right, channel two becomes an almost identical clone of channel one. One of the things that I really liked about channel two before the mod was that it had an...

Ordered a bunch of tubes to try in the Lonestar...

I agree with Charles completely. I've tried all sorts of pre tubes in every position with little or no change. The amp sounds great will just about anything in it. Great design. Oh, by the way Charles, I did the mod and played around with it for two days and found I liked it in the original...

    Mesa Plate Current Range

    Thanks for the reply.

    6L6 power tubes

Thanks Kmanick- That "correct draw" number is what I need. I have a full box of NOS RCA blackplate 6L6's. My tech has a tube tester and in order to see which of my 6L6's would be within a safe range I need to know what the actual range is that Mesa uses. Mesa must use an actual numerical...

    Mesa Plate Current Range

I've been reading allot about Mesa's stock tubes and how they fall within a certain range so they work correctly in Mesa's amps. What exactly is that range? For an example I have two matched 6L6's from a reputable dealer and they are marked : Plate Current - 26.8 (ma) and...

    6L6 power tubes

Halfdeaf: "so I know what the current draw should be, and I selected non-Mesa tubes that have the same or lower current draw." What are the correct ranges of current draw on the 6L6's?

    I PM'ed you.

    LSS and rectifier tube

If you've gone through three 5Y3's in 10 months then something is wrong. I would suggest that you call Doug at Dougstubes.com and talk with him. He might suggest an NOS 5Y3 that he knows is strong. If that one blows out then I would think that something is wrong with the amp. Either the...

    Avatar 4x12 vs Mesa 4x12

I did a search and came up with this quote on another forum that was discussing Chinese Celestion's. Thought it might be interesting to some of you. “Dave is certainly someone who likes to talk, isn't he? If you ever spend time with him on the phone, he'll tell you all sorts of interesting...

    Avatar 4x12 vs Mesa 4x12

"One main difference between the Avatar and say like a Marshall and possibly mesa is that the Celestion speakers used in the Avatars are made in China." That's an interesting point. How do you know which is which. Are they marked on the back of the speaker? I just went and looked at an V30 I...

Looking for a boost pedal....down to two choices

You might also take a look at the Xiotic effects line. The AC, DC and BB Preamp. Great sounds all the way around.

    Roadster- too much all around

I really think you should preview a LSC head. I just picked up a short head and it weighs in at around 40-45 lbs. Great cleans and when you want it to overdrive it will. Very warm with tons of headroom. Not too dificult to dial in but very respossive to all tonal changes. If you don't like...

    LSC vs. Bruno Cowtipper 45

I can't solder worth a damm. I have trouble putting in new pickups and with something like the Lonestar, I don't want to take a chance of screwing anything up.

    LSC vs. Bruno Cowtipper 45

That was a nice post Charles. I guess my wife's just the opposite. She saves for the big items she wants and doesn't really buy small things. Case in point, she's the little old lady from Pasadena, and really wanted to get a 2000 Z28 Camaro. (She previously had a 1994 and 1996 and sold both...

    LSC vs. Bruno Cowtipper 45

Well, i gotta tell yea, my wife is just the opposite. A couple of years ago I wanted a Shiva with cabs and she was all for it. Last Xmas, I happened to mention that what I "really' needed was a red Strat to go with my others and the next thing I know she's ordered a candy apple red Eric...

    Lonestar Classic Reverb

I'v sort of given up on the problem. I called Mesa again today and was told that was the way the reverbs sound. I guess I was expecting too much. I still have the noise on channel 1 but I guess it sounds ok on channel 2. Oh well, I don't use allot of reverb anyway, usually some delay and...
