    Differences in cabinets

I'm running my Single Rec through a 90's 4x12 Peavey 5150 cabinet with Sheffields. I'm looking into getting an oversized Recto cab with V30's. I've never heard my amp through this cab, and don't have a dealer near me. How much different could it possibly sound from the 5150? I like my...

stripping paint off of single rec

Mission accomplished with a little nail polish remover and elbow grease. Maybe not as easy as buying a new plate, but accomplished nevertheless. Thanks for the reply.

stripping paint off of single rec

I bought my Single used, and the guy I bought it from thought it was a good idea to paint the metal plating black with acrylic paint. It actually looks pretty good, but I would rather it original. I don't really want to shell out and buy a new shell for $300 or so. I don't want to scrape it...

    most brutal mark??

I checked out the Mark III blue stripe, it is definitely aggressive. Anyone else agree with above comments, or any more suggestions? Like I said, I can't play a Mk III so I will have to base my purchase on youtube vids and you guys suggestions. I just wanna make sure it will be more monstrous...

    most brutal mark??

Will it have a modern gain sound, or more of an 80's metal sound?? I really would like both, but the modern is more important to me.

    most brutal mark??

I'm in the market for a Mark, but not sure which is best for me. I only have one Mesa dealer around, but they don't carry any used amps at all. I have a single rec right now, but I want something tight that doesn't need a od pedal to sound brutal. I want BRUTAL! What is the heaviest mark out...

    retubing single recto

I'm about to retube my Single Series 2 for the first time. I'm changing all the preamp tubes out for Doug's metal preamp kit, and changing to Ruby EL-34s. Just want to make sure...all I have to do is change the bias switch to EL-34 right? Anything else before I switch out preamp tubes?? Thanks...

    Single rectifier any good?

I also have a Single Series 2, it's loud and I love it. Keep in mind that it is voiced somewhat different, but probably not enough to REALLY notice unless you play the two side by side. And as a side note, the Dual 100w is only 3 or so decibels louder than the Single, so you can still rock...

    Effects loop quandry

Thanks a lot guys. I think I might try the serial loop mod. Brich do you think you can email me the instructions you got from Mesa if you still have it? I'll PM you my email. Also, does the serial fx mod affect the dry signal AT ALL when the loop is engaged but the pedal is off?

    Effects loop quandry

Hi all, my first post here. Great forums with great info! I just bought a boss dd-3 delay pedal, and I am running it through the effects loop of my Series 2 Single Rectifier. The problem I'm having is that the only way to get a good delay sound is to have the effects loop mix almost turned all...
