New amp day - Mesa Mark III - no stripe - #25

Mine has a leftover Gain Boost faceplate. I found some orange pilot lights so all of my Mark 3's have them instead of the blue ones.

New amp day - Mesa Mark III - no stripe - #25

Nice! I've been playing through my No Stripe DRG lately. It also has the 105. I sent it to Mike B. for service and the R2/+ mod. I have Chinese Square Getters and 415's / 416's in it. They're great amps. Very close to a c+.

    IIC+ with extra triode

Here's some pics. Hope it helps.

    IIC+ with extra triode

I have a c+ with 6 12ax7's. Mike B. said the cathode follower is a buffer stage, no gain. Just tends to make it feel likes it's got more push and headroom.

Where would one go to to test old tubes to see if they are still good?

I own the Maxi - Matcher 2 and the Maxi - Preamp 2 testers. I'll test your tubes for free if you live in the Chicago area.

Mark III + is a firebreather

When the Lead channel and R2 are both engaged there's a little more gain. Similar to my c++'s. I use Mesa Chinese 7025 12ax7's and 415/416's in my Simul's.

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I don't need any more c+'s but if I could order one the way I wanted, and it looked old school, I would definitely buy one. The same reason people buy a Gibson Reissue 59 Les Paul. As close to an original as possible

Mark III + is a firebreather

I currently own 5 Mark 3+'s. SRG and DRG No Stripe's. SRG and KDRG Blue Stripe's. And a No Stripe wide DRG that Mike B. had to replace the board. So it's kind of a hybrid. It has the 105 transformer and a later stripe board. They're all awesome amps. The No Stripe's are the closest to a c+. The...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

Mesa should open the Bendinelli Lab just like Gibson has the Murphy Lab for reissues. A Custom Shop where you could order any amp from Mesa the way you want, like I did in 1984.

    MS-12 vs EVM12L

The MS-12 is my favorite speaker to use with a c+. I also have EV's in some of the c+ combos. The EV can be a little sterile and hifi sounding. It adds very little coloration and reproduces pretty much what you put through it. The MS-12 is a little warmer and kinda smears the Mids. They pair...

Mark IIC Conversion to + by 3rd Party Authorized Repair place.

If Mike B. is doing mods I would send it in before he retires. Just make sure to pack it so it survives the journey. I've sent in a over 15 amps with no problems. I've had Mike upgrade 7 IIc's. Every one came back a better amp. I use 415's/416's in all of my c+'s. The 415 has a balanced tone in...

What's your best combination preamp + poweramp

Studio Preamp with a 50/50 will get you close to c+.

One has to wonder how many late rp11a board , original unmodified 2c amps exist.

I have an upgraded HRG++ with the RP11 board. Serial number is 1144x. There could be a thousand IIc's with the Rp11.
