    Early Mark amp

That amp is actually posted for sale online, not hard to find. ;)

    Early Mark amp

Borrowed an early Mark amp (sub-250 SN) from a friend and been making glorious noise with it all weekend. Easy to see why they became so popular in the early to mid 70s.

California Tweed - How to dial the amp for different guitars.

My sweet spot is likely quite different from yours.

    Shopping for first Mesa

I'd definitely do the combo and attenuator.

    Road King MKII

Selling my Road King mk2, along with all the accessories and spare tubes. Amp is in great shape, and I am the only owner. I had it serviced a couple years ago and the tech (electrical engineering professor highly recommended by Mesa) replaced some resistors with higher quality pieces and the...

    Road King fx loop routing

If either effect has a mix knob, it's the same as putting it in the parallel loop. Personally, I would put the chorus in 1 and delay in 2, but that's just preference. I always used my foot switch to turn loops off and on, the switches on the back had to be in the off position in order to do...

Maverick 2x12....how do I make the lead channel tighter?

Swap out the preamp tube or tubes that are responsible only for channel 2.

    Fillmore Overdrive Pedal Suggestions

I've always had good luck with OCD style pedals. The other option I would suggest is something with more than just a single tone knob. Being able to dial in the right amount of bass, mids and treble really helps when boosting. The Seafoam Lighthouse boost has a couple of switches on the back...

Attemp to make my Roadking sound like a Marshall!

Interesting choices, Raw or Brit modes would have gotten you a lot closer and wouldn't have required quite so much TS. I usually use channel 3 set to Raw or Vintage modes with EL34s and spongy tube rectifiers to get Marshall type sounds on my Road King. Played through a 1960 cab loaded with...

Dumb question, but why does it feel like Recto's "Need" a boost or OD to sound best?

Because you have too much bass and not enough mids. Adding a TS style boost will add mids and cut bass slightly, in addition to feeding more signal overall to the amp.

    Original Mesa Rectifier Manual

Doing some cleaning and I found my original "Rectifier Manual". Three pages of copy on two sheets of paper stapled together and the first line is: "The rectifier doesn't really need an owner's manual". How the times have changed

    Heartbreaker

I got lucky when I had an issue with my Road King, there is a fantastic guy a couple hours away. I can't call him a tech, he taught electrical engineering for Penn State and has had an interest in amps for years. Mesa's support guys turned me on to him when I called them. Give them a call and...

    Unbelievable tube score

Took a road trip to the Martin Guitar factory today and randomly stopped into every guitar shop I could find. On my way out I glance into the display case and see two pair of NOS Mesa STR 420 tubes. Popped them into my Road King tonight and I'm in heaven. I can't believe I managed to find...

    Roadster power tube options

I loved the old STR-420 6L6s. The Svetlana 6L6s aren't bad and the JJ E34Ls are my favorite EL34 that I've tried.

    Road King 2 - channels

Try running channel 3 in RAW mode and you will get more highs, but less gain. With all of the extra highs (presence) in channel 4 to compensate for usually being used for the MODERN mode, perhaps you should look at that channel for the brighter tones and use channel 3 for thicker lead tones...
